COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our new spring seasonal beer, Karnival Kolsch is arriving just in time for our Fasching Karneval . We are very excited about the release of this beer. For the first time in Stoudt’s history, we are releasing a brand new beer that has already received a medal at the Great American Beer Festival. This refreshing German-style ale was brewed using 2-row malt, a small amount of red wheat malt, and all German hops for bittering and aroma. This straw colored ale is smooth like a lager due to the colder fermentation temperature and extended cellaring time. It is dry and crisp with a slight fruitiness which compliments the mild hop bitterness and aroma. This light ale is a fresh complement to most foods, but in particular fish, chicken, and salads. Karneval Kolsch will be available at your local distributor soon.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2013 Pleasantly surprised. Fruity, light, soft with creamy head. Very light hops that mix in just nice with the structure of the beer. Refreshing and tasty. Grassy and fresh. Would definitely enjoy getting a case of this in a few months. Could see many beer types and non liking this one.

Draft at Fado. Mostly clear light blonde pour that started with a large foamy white head. Reduced to some thin, but plentiful, lace a lasting foamy ring. Feels like a Kolsch. Bright shiny lemony wheat beer flavors with a slight bit of yeastiness and enough hops to provide a slight bite in the finish to quench the thirst. Some pleasant light fruity notes including tangerine peel, asian pear, meyer lemon, green grapes and unripe bananas - balanced against traditional breadier flavors. Short bread biscuits with lemon curd. The hop bite finish increases the more you drink it - to positive effect. Last had this over two years ago in the bottle and it didn’t impress me much. The current draft of it that I am having does impress me. Was not expecting to like this as much as I did.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours clear straw yellow, quick head, some lace and retention. Aroma of hay. Taste is moderately sweet, just a tad of noble hop earthy bitterness. Light bodied, lively carbonation, smooth mouth feel. Finishes bittersweet with tasting notes of light barley, straw, grass, herbs and flowers. A very nice kolsch. Smooth and refreshing.

Transfer from BA review on 6-3-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- The beer is served a light golden color with a one finger fizzy white head. The head has a decent level of retention fading to leave only a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is light overall consisting mostly of a bready smell with a moderate showing of lemon and a bit of graininess. Along with these aromas are smells of grass and a bit of yeast. Taste- The taste begins with a malty flavor mixed with a lemon taste. These flavors are relatively constant throughout the taste creating a base for the brew. More toward the middle and the end a little bit of a grassy flavor as well as some flavors of a light fruitiness come to the tongue. In the end a nice smooth and lightly hopped flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is thin and crisp with a carbonation level that is average to slightly above average. Both are fantastic for the style and make for a very easy drinking brew. Overall- Refreshing and very easy drinking. It is a rather flavorful beer for the more light-summer like genera.

It has a bright clear yellow color with a tall bright white head on top. The body has some streams of visible carbonation rising up to the head which is creamy and hangs on well. It also makes some cool slick lacing on the glass. The aroma has a light pale biscuity malt undertone with a nice grassy/floral hop character with a twist of lemon zest on top. Its flavor mirrors the aroma with light, mildly sweet malt balanced by mildly bitter grassy/floral hops. The palate is light with a soft yet still lively carbonated texture.

On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Cloudy pale golden body, resembling a witbier, with a creamy white head.
Aroma: Slightly lemony with a mild sweetness. a very subtle spiciness and perhaps a touch of wheat. Pleasant aroma, decent strength.
Taste: A mild/pleasant sweet lemon flavor is apparent with a touch of malty sweetness and a subtle spiciness by the finish. Easy to drink.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with moderate to high carbonation, prickling sensation on the tongue.
Overall: Very easy to drink with subtle pleasant hints of things. This would be great with certain light dishes.
