COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
McGillin’s 1860 IPA, is unfiltered, as it would have been in the 1800s, and is made from a secret recipe with multiple hop varieties including centennial and amarillo. A crisp hop flavor and aroma with a slight maltness and medium body round off this quaffable ale.

12oz bottle into my Orval glass...Pours a light copper off white head that is very bubbly, light retention but very good lacing...Super light aroma, a little hops, malt caramel finish...The taste is really nice, super easy to drink but nothing that really blows me away, but yet I’m crushing it really fast. Light hop finish is nice send off. Nothing special but an easy to drink ipa, worth a shot if you see at the bar.

Tap at Stoudts. Pours a lightly hazy orange amber with a medium creamy/bubbly white head that left a bunch of sticky lacing. Aroma of fresh orangey hops, caramel malt sweetness and floral notes. Flavor the same orangey hop notes complimented with a heavy dose of caramel malt.

Tasted from a bottle obtained as an extra in a trade. Pours a clear amber orange with a thick white head that leaves fairly light lace after a slow recession. The nose is a nice mixture of caramel malt and fruity hops aroma. The flavor starts off with the fruits, moves to the slightly sweet caramelly malt flavor, and then finishes with the bitterness of hops. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a medium bitter finish.

From the tap poured an amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a lingering aftertaste.

Slightly hazy golden pour. The nose has a touch of grapefruit over a soft malt sweetness. Restrained use of crystal malt that lends a touch of sweetness that I don’t really like. A little bit of cookie dough character and a touch of astringency that I don’t care for either. Fairly assertive hopping/bitterness.

12 ounce bottle from the brewery. Pours a very hazy orange color with a medium sized white creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Citrus hop aroma with some maltiness. Well balanced with a bit of a faint peppery bite in the end. The taste is bitter citrus and slightly resiny hops with some toffeeish malts. Quite a lingering hop burn. Overall a fairly straightforward but good IPA.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, light brown-gold with a strong, white head. Nice, hoppy aroma, with earth, grass, pineapple and some citrus. Flavor at first struck me as so-so but I have warmed up to it. Lightly sweet, with faint caramel. Not much citrus, plenty of earth and a dirty, bitter finish. With time, though, some grapefruit emerges. Not bad overall. Flavor could be a little fuller; perhaps its a tad thin. Overall, medium bodied with average, fizzy carbonation.

Draft @ Blind Tiger. Orange pour with white head. Floral, earthy, and spice hop aromatics. Pine and citrus flavor notes, basic IPA.
