3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BiddleBrau (639) - Midland Park, New Jersey, USA - APR 4, 2010
I like Stoudts and think they do a good job in meeting traditional styles. Orange golden with thin white head. Faint citrus aroma, slightly roasty as well. Taste was more on the hop side and I was expecting more malt from an Oktoberfest. I would have guessed it more in line with a pale ale.

Clear light brown color minimal head. Aroma has light spice, and light grain and hops. Flavor is light, very light spice and some malts. Light body, overall drinkable but light.

Certainly this beer doesn’t demand much from the drinker. But then again, most Oktoberfests don’t. However, I found the balance to be very admirable and the finish extremely smooth. Interesting beer. Would really make a good session beer in the hot summer.

Sampled at the brewery on 2/20/10. Pours clear yellow with beautiful eggshell head. Nice effervescence and lacing. A little light for the style. Caramel, vanilla and pine aroma. Great sweetness balanced with a slight bitterness. Though not perfect to the style, this is one of the most drinkable oktoberfests I’ve had.

mild yeast/dough aroma. Light yellow-amber in color with thin white head and light-to-medium lacing. Slick on palate with lively carbonation. Tartness towards back of palate with abrupt finish. We thought this beer was OK but not stellar.

This is a style my jury is still out on. Easy drinker, nice malty bready doughy finish thing going on. Not a fan of the carbonation feel. Anyway smooth easy session beer.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a clear deep bubbly gold with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of light grassy hops, slightly vegetal, along with bread and toasted caramel malt. Flavour of sweet caramel malt, light grassy hops, again a touch vegetal, and something I can’t place, fruit perhaps. Average bodied. I’m not loving this, I don’t particularly like the style to begin with -- it isn’t bad, it’s just not for me.

On tap at Asgard, Cambridge MA, October 2009. Rich amber colour. Fairly dry malt with just a subtle bready element. Medium bodied. No appreciable residual sweetness (which is fine by me). Not one of my favoured styles but I found this one pretty decent and more to my taste than many.
