COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The driest and most delicate of our lagers. Stoudt’s Pils is characteristic of the traditional European Pilseners. Straw-yellow and assertively hopped with Saaz hops, this frequent medal winner has a refreshing bitterness and refined hop aroma.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours the expected straw-colored light golden/yellow color, with a slightly-less-than-moderate white head. Carbonation is about average for the style. The nose is of floral, slightly spicy, slightly earthy German noble hops, with perhaps just a touch of underlying pilsner malt aroma. The palate is assertively but not overly hoppy, again giving hints of relatively unaggressive German styles. Malt character enters in the mid- to late-palate, showing pilsner high sweetness. Overall, the beer seems to lack the full malt backbone that is characteristic of better European examples of the style, and this ultimately seems to hold the beer back. There are no major flaws, and it succeeds in being clean and crisp. However, just a touch of Munich malt would go a long way toward adding complexity and enhancing the beer’s overall qualities.

bottle. Pours a standard golden color with a bit of haziness and a nice white head. Nice hoppy aroma. Seems a bit over bitter and dry for a pilsner, but an okay beer nonetheless.

Nice beer, but ’way out there’ on the aroma hopping! Pours a nice golden color, with about 1 finger of foam that held up well. Smell, clean heavy aroma of noble hops over take. Nice hoppy smell but over whelming for the style. Taste, traditional pilsner taste, clean and crisp maybe a little sweeter than I might have expected. The aroma hops take over very quickly, and over power the beer. Mouthfeel and drinkability are good. Well made beer, and easy drinking.

Situation: First week of school completed.... Glassware: Paulaner pilsner... Appearance: Thin, golden cascade of bubbles that build a snow-white two-finger head--reminiscient of the Dortmunder... Aroma: soft Saaz and a punch of maltmake the aroma agrreebale but leave it short of distinguishable (which may be the point of all pilsners anyway...) Palate: immediate throat interaction--crisp and dry, medium-bodied with a lingering aftertaste... Taste: a pilsner all the way, with more lagerish flavor to give it weight; a bit a bit sweet but refreshing, with a bit of banana involved... Overall: This sits rather appropriately among the others in the case, and has some brilliant moments for its freshness and proximity to its drinking...

Pours a clear dark golden yellow with some ripe banana hues and a two finger frothy, pillowy white head that has great retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap that leaves chunks of soapy lacing. Slightly earthy aroma with lots of pilsner malt and a decent floral hop presence. There’s also a bit of straw and grass aroma and very subtle light fruit. Pretty hop forward for the style with a very clean crisp medium body. Slightly bready yeast presence with a huge Pilsner malt backbone. The earthy grass and straw notes found in the aroma shine through nicely. Very well balanced with just enough hop bitterness without going overboard and overpowering the nice pilsner malt presence. Slight biscuit and graham cracker maltiness and slight crisp light fruit notes, mostly apple. Very quaffable tasty session beer. Perfect for the warmer months but good anytime.

I sampled this beer from the bottle. It had a semi-clear gold color with a good-sized, foamy white head that had good retention and decent cling. The beer had a light grainy aroma with some grassy hops and a bit of malt too. The flavor was a mix of subtle sweetness and some grainy bitterness too, but not overpowering on either end. It had decent carbonation, a modest body and mouthfeel, and was fairly smooth.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color pils with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and great lacing. Aroma of grassy and dry hops with solid malt backbone. Taste is dryer then I had anticipated (not that this is a bad thing) with a solid malt backbone. Body is quite full with perfect carbonation for the style. Very well done and something I would wish would be available around here.

12oz bottle. Pours a straw golden color with a thick foamy head that leaves some lacing. A weaker aroma of citrus and grassy wheat. Taste has a grassy malty start that is not overpowering with an abrupt hops bite at the finish. A crisp, dry and light bodied session beer.
