Aroma is lemony and slight, vinegary with shades of straw. Bits of spice. Not terrible, but not to my liking.
Smooth sailing once in the mouth, slick and smooth, absolutely quenching. Not much depth or body, but there’s not supposed to be, I wager. Very light, with an agreeable, if minor, flavor. There’s a little bit of grainy malt texture that creeps in, but not too much. Actually, I like more as I drink it...decent.
Being wet and no trouble down the throat is the order of the day and Stoudt’s Pils fills the bill. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2006 Bottle. Pours a bright, clear, golden-coloured body with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is predominately grassy hops and a certain unassuming pillowy hayish-malt component. Soft carbonation. Well-hopped and decidedly bitter alongside mild sweet bread flavours. Drinkable and quite possibly a great, tasty session beer. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 24, 2006 Sampled at Broudy’s Beerfest, Orange Park FL, 6/24/2006. Assertively hoppy both in aroma and flavor. Not bad but defiinitely the weakest offering from Stoudts superlative lineup. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2006 Transparent pale bronze in color with a dense white head that nearly resembles a thin stack of Oxy pads. Aroma is on the teeter totter: lemon buttered sweet sourdough, gardenias and daffodils, and cologne with a sweet perfume interjection to the traditional muskiness. Non-causal flavor and not much bark or bite. Light, fluffy cornmeal biscuits with an herbal hard roll heel edge. Scant and skittish lemon freshness supplants the hardly husky (and even less musky) bigger picture. Non-confrontational on the palate, and I’d say it’s a bit of an oxymoran to "aggressively hop with saaz." Steps briefly into flavor’s domain, but backs out in order to please the mass public perception. It’s balanced, relatively speaking, but it’s so scaled back that it seems like Stoudts had to barter for each scant ingredient. Cornish crescent rolls meet a touch of soapy Pledge in the finish, winding down with semi-sweetened corn flakes, depleted starch and lightly salted chex mix. thehoff (569), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 14, 2006 Quite hoppy. Are all German style pilsners supposed to be hoppy? nice and easy to drink. a bit one dimensional though. not much else to say crazyvin (1255), New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 13, 2006 very refreshing! straw yellow body white head decent carbonation. Aroma was a nice mix of citrusy malt aromas with some floral hops. Taste was a mild bread like malt base with some biitering hop flavor really smooth and easy to drink. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2006 Assertive, but herbal, hop aroma with some hay and very mild orange peel notes. Color is light yellow and the body holds a fluffy white, two finger thick head that diminishes slowly. Fore is grainy tasting and has grapefruit accented hop notes. Very clean middle and finish leaves grapefruit and floral hop flavors lingering on the tongue. The malt base is noticeable, but the hops are running the show flavor wise.
