The driest and most delicate of our lagers. Stoudt’s Pils is characteristic of the traditional European Pilseners. Straw-yellow and assertively hopped with Saaz hops, this frequent medal winner has a refreshing bitterness and refined hop aroma.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours slightly hazy straw yellow, two finger head, some lacing and retention. Aroma of hay and Saaz hops. Taste is wonderfully balanced between the noble saaz hop bitter and the light malts. Light bodied, lively bitterness and crisp mouth feel. Finishes slightly bitter and clean with notes of honey, light citrus, wildflowers and grass. This is a great pilsner!

12 oz. bottle from Lighthouse. It pours a brilliantly clear golden yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is very bready/malty with light notes of noble hops. The flavor has stronger noble hops, a full body with fat pale malts and a spicy, strong bitterness in the finish. Good stuff. Could be a bit more aromatic.

[on tap at Local 50, PHI airport] Aroma of hay and fresh, sweet and spicy noble Saaz hops. Clear straw under a persistent white cover and lace. Slightly lagery sulfur together with dry pilsner malt, spicy hops, and an assertive bitterness. Balance is a bit too far towards bitter. Medium-light body, moderate-medium carbonation, lingering bitterness.

Crisp flavor, hint of grain but nice malt profile. Hops work well and are to style. Fresh and familiar.

Another pilsener without much good saaz hops. Pours golden with good head and lacing. Finishes with light bitterness. Smells nice. Some sweetness here. Watery texture. On tap at DC Summerfest.

Hazy straw yellow with a soapy white head that hangs out and laces robustly. Aroma is wheat and grass. Taste is crisp grains and noble hops with a bit of lemon and honey. A very good pilsner that balanced sweetness with some finishing bitterness.

Comes out as crystal clear, very light yellow with a giant and dense white head. Crisp but barely-there aroma, Deutsche hops with hints of white wine. Similarly weak flavor, a little sweet and a little hoppy. An intense lingering spiciness is probably the highlight of this beer, other than the really well-balanced mouthfeel. There’s a ton of excellent German-style lagers coming out, this is decent but can’t roll with a lot that you can find these days.
