A full bodied ale has a deep reddish amber color with a thick creamy head. Pungent hop flavors are derived from 3 different varieties of domestically grown hops. This ale finishes on the dry side with a wonderful citrus hop flavor. 6.2% abv

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a decent looking hazy red color with no head nor any lacing. The smell had a rich herbal citrus to lightly spiced over caramel maltiness. The taste was slightly sweet herbal citrus over the caramel maltiness again. A mostly herbal to caramel aftertaste leading to a semi-wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed mostly rounded out and fairly smooth (I wonder how old this is). Overall, I say a decent APA, nothing spectacular but still worthy of having again, preferably with food.

What the East Coast passes off as hoppy, comes off as kind of watery and soapy for a NW drinker. Pinkish orange body with minimal head, aroma is kind of funky and flowery. taste is sweet malt and bittersweet hops, kind of soapy. There’s a decent beer in here trying to get out.

Tasted on 1/31/12 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear, deep brass with an average beige head that leaves a thin layer of even lace. The nose is a nice blend of pleasant hoppiness and a hint of caramel malt. The flavor is exactly the same, with the hops showing lightly fruity. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long lightly bitter and fruity finish.

A: Hard pour yields a 1 finger pillowy tan head atop a tawny amber clear body. Head retains and laces well. S: Subdued hops and toast with a sweet fruit note. T: A tart, fruity hop bite on first sip is quite pronounced. Unexpected (strange?) but OK. A little pine resin. Malts fairly nondeScript save for a bit of roast flavor on the finish. M: Fine bead carbonation is very nice. A bit of hop chewiness also makes things interesting. Not enough to save this ale from mediocrity. O: Interesting take on whatever style this is supposed to be. Red ale/Pale ale? I don’t think the flavors meld very well together to create any complete "whole". Disjointed? I like Stoudt’s pils. Won’t buy this again.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours amber red, not quite two inch head, nice lacing and retention. Herbal - caramel aroma. Taste is medium sweet, somewhat tart. Medium body, light bitterness, syrupy mouth feel. Finishes odd, like Robitussin and buttercream icing. Very strange.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Slightly hazy, reddish amber, small tan head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and malts, sort of roasty, combined with some fruit notes. Taste starts sweet a malty and turns hoppy and bitter towards the end, dry finish. Nice beer, easy to drink.

{from notes} undated 12 oz bottle served in a pint glass. A: reddish-amber color; clear with a moderate, creamy head of limited duration. Little lacing. S: nice malty aroma with hints of bread and toffee. T: light, grassy hops, a trace of citrus, and a light malt backbone. Hoppy for style, as is most obvious in the lingering, moderately bitter aftertaste.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and dank herbal hops. Taste follows aroma, medium-heavy bitter. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Very good.

Bottle. A little harsh for my taste. Pale, but not as bitter as expected. Did not like this variety of hops. Not for me.
