3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle (best by: 5/16/12). Clear orange color, a good thin cream-colored head, leaving good lace. A lighter, crisp carbonation. Nice and dry, good texture. A hoppy red, basically. Nice, spiced hop aroma. Nice sweet and spicy taste, slight bitter. A decent enough beer, but it leaves me wanting something more out of it. Iíll take an imperial version, please

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Moderate malt and hop notes of roasted, caramel, and pine, light soap for the yeast, with hints of dark dried fruit in the background. Head is small to average size, frothy, off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear light amber/orange. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation. A nice surprise from a beer called Red. Lots of Pale Ale aromas, and a flavor thatís just a little short on the sweetness.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pretty, but the nose is all dark malt and grain, nary a hop to be found. Tastes semidry, with a dark, caramel middle surrounded by a immediate and lingering swipe of hops. But the hops donít have the wanted depth; the beer is bitter, but doesnít deliver on any solid pine, herbal, or citric flavors that are usually prevalent in a "hoppy red." But Iím being too negative; this bottle isnít bad beer. In fact, thereís a grainy, earthy charm to the malts, and the hops never grow annoying, even if the bitterness is without any accompanying charm.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Deep copper color, rock off-white head. Nice lace. Aroma of toasted grains, earthy hops. Nice caramel nose. Tastes is dry caramel malts, mint, and then some leathery hops. Finishes with a good amount of spruce, some black tea notes, and nutty malt character as well. Very good, dry, and not overly hopped, and well balanced.
