3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ryanscourt (268) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2013
Nice lacing, good hop aroma. Reminds me of an english style pale ale/IPA. A lot of biscuity and caramel body with pretty mellow hop flavors that leave a of the show with the malts. Overall a nice balance and combination. Everything seems to go together really well.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 GSH1976 (121) - Delaware, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Pours a clear, amber with off-white head. Aroma is sweet with notes of toffee and caramel and no hop presence. Taste is mainly caramel malt with just a hint of bitterness in the end. Medium bodied with a dry finish. This would be much better with some hops but as it stands there is nothing special about it. Kind of funny that it is labeled hoppy ale.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 matthewjk (730) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 8, 2013
12oz bottle sample - No red ale aroma, but certainly has a dark amber appearance. Fun hop ride! Pretty fresh too. Dynamic brew worth trying.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear red hue with a large beige head. A big malty nose. Light fruit, dust, caramel, some light citrus. Very low hops. Decent. Easy to drink.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 kramer (3873) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear bright reddish tinged amber body under a small fizzy loo-white head that faded to a thin film. The hop profile on the nose is pretty nice, a combination of lightly citrusy and floral notes, but the malt profile leaves a bit to be desired for me. It smells as if there’s a hefty amount of crystal malt in here. The hops are almost good enough to carry this beer up front, but unfortunately the malt wins out on the finish and it’s just too sweet. Finishes like a spoonful of brown sugar with a light floral bitterness. I wish this did finish on the dry side like the commercial description says. Medium bodied, a bit sticky and clingy from the residual sugar, light fizzy carbonation. This just isn’t up my alley for the style.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Shag (2439) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - FEB 15, 2013
This poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma contains some caramel, citrus, bready notes, and perfume. The flavor is rather tame and slightly dry with some caramel, toasted oats, and slight citrus showing up. This is more malty than anything. Overall decent session stuff at best.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maxwelldeux (2205) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a pillowy white head. Nose is slightly hoppy, but not all that strong. Taste is actually maltier than it is hoppy, with caramel coming through. Meh.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 EithCubes (4193) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Bottle. Pungent hoppy nose with a little citrus and some nice, slightly spicy malt. Touch of dough. Very fresh! Deep orange body leaning toward red, rocky tannish head. As for taste, light bitterness amplified in such a dry environment, hard water, touch of dough and faint caramel, hops are woody into the aftertaste and a have an aged/musty bit of pungency to them (but not really any citrus). Thin body a touch over watery but stable. Interesting blend of flavors, reminds a little of an Irish Red that seems to fall partially outside of the categories of this site.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sonnycheeba (1897) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Tap. Pours clear amber with thin, creamy white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is cereal and cookie malts, figs, pear, spicy and floral hops, and light candy sugar. Flavor is dry, bready malts forward with supporting dark fruit esters and spicy hops, and light pine; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.
