Stoudts Scarlet Lady Ale ESB

Nice ruby color. Chewy chocolate fig malts, with nice deep sugared fruit aromas. Rounded flavors, musty marzen-like with lightly spiced vanilla. Bitterness is there for balance but not what I think of for the style. Not what i was expecting for some reason but not bad.

nice brownish amber with solid white head. flavor o some crystal malt but not prominent enough to balance the hop bitterness. a version of the style that fits the specifications, however not above an average example

12 oz bottle...pours a reddish brown w/ a foamy off-white head which leaves some frothy lacing behind...Very weak nose...floral hops, malt. The flavors are a combo of malts, toffee, toasted nuts, and bitter hops. The palate is somewhat runny/watery, w/ mild carbonation and a lasting bitter finish. I like this ESB because it is equally good for summer as well as winter drinking...

Aroma is weak with notes of malt and hops. Clear medium amber hue with an off-white head. Flavor is ok but below average, hops caramel, ok but no vision. Watery and lively. Below average for an ESB.

Deep copper body with a light khaki head. The aroma is lightly malty with some toffee. There is also some old library book character. The taste has some light toffee and iced tea. There is also some raisin that comes out after drinking. A nice ESB.

12 oz. bottle pours reddish-brown with an off-white frothy head that diminishes quickly. Carries a sweet aroma with hints of caramel and an ever so slight touch of biscuit. The initial flavor is sweet with a quiet bitterness that sneaks into the finish. The palate is moderately dry. The Scarlet Lady was my first ESB…you never forget your first.

12 ounce bottle- poured out an amber/orange with a medium white head that lasted about half the glass. Aroma was slightly fruity but subtle. Taste had a hint of fruit and caramel, almost like the good parts of an IPA without the drawbacks of bitterness and bite. The brew was full bodied and palatable for an amber ale. I have yet to be disappointed by a Stoudts product.

12 oz. bottle. Pours red with light brown hues. Pillowy, off-white head that contributes some lacing tops this brew. Nose is sweet and fruity with caramel, and slight chocolate. Medium bodied with well balanced malt and hop character. caramel and biscuit character with faint chocolate and roast notes give way to a moderate earthy bitter that rises slowly through the finish and clings to the palate well into the after. moderately dry with some sweet toffee notes battling the bitter well after you’ve taken a drink. I’m a big fan of this brew. It’s drinkable, not overly bitter nor sweet, and is light enough in body to be enjoyed as a session beer. A bit high on the alcohol content for that, but who’s counting.
