Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jan 31, 2008 Poured from a bottle into a pint glass a dark brown/red with only a little head. I had a hard time placing the smell beyond the hops. A smooth ale taste with a medium body. Sits well on the palate and the after taste is also smooth. All in all I enjoyed it but had slightly higher hopes. afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 21, 2008 Updated: Jan 22, 2008bottle. dark ruby color. very balanced with a nice bitter hoppy finish. not your standard ESB but quite enjoyable regardless. ReademNwheat (174), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 21, 2008 From a bottle. Pours an amber color. Sweet malts and faint floral hops in the aroma. Taste is kinda sweet...like tart fruits. Almost like grapes. Other than that this brew is pretty uninteresting. Thin and watery mouthfeel. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Jan 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Body is cloudy amber red. Aroma is sweet with some sort of spice maybe. The flavor is good, some nuts and dry finish. This was a decent brew. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Jan 20, 2008 Pretty good, very drinkable. Not bitter at all, tasted more like an amber ale. Some decent hop character to it. Caramel malt flavor. Light bodied and a weak finish. Nothing really stands out. shackinetics (132), Florida, USA Jan 15, 2008 a dark amber brown with thin beige head. Earthy floral and caramel smell. High on malts and low on hops. not exceptionally bitter - was expecting better as I really enjoyed Stoudt’s DIPA. AMN (127), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2008 Dark red color with a white head. Not especially hoppy or bitter. Nothing impressive about it, but not much to complain about either. riversideAK (2650), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jan 6, 2008 Poured scarlet red with small head. Somewhat vegetal aroma with some toffee and gross floral hops. Tasted somewhat similar with a little metallic feeling too. Thin and unpleasant. I am glad I am not the only one to feel that way. By the way, mine might have been a little past the freshness date as it was bottled on 7/6/06. I don’t know about aging an ESB, but it probably did not help .
