shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Dec 4, 2006 Amber color with a bit of a haze to it. Moderate level of visible carbonation with a residual beige crown and some light lacing. Aroma is mostly rich caramel malt. Flavor is malty (lightly roasted/caramel), slightly earthy and fruity, and has some balancing hop bitterness in the finish. Moderate level of sweetness. Medium body and pretty smooth on the palate. A decent ESB...
12 oz bottle (Best Before 11/01/2006), $1.49+tax from Jungle Jim’s (bargain bin). BillKismet (1896), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 28, 2006 Nice amber mahogany color with a mild fruity-malty aroma. Pleasant fruity-malty flavor with mild botterness and a slightly metallic finish. beerbomb (172), New Jersey, USA Nov 17, 2006 Aroma is mostly sweet caramelly malt with a bit of earthy hops. Initial malty flavor is good with pungeant malts but isnt backed up by a strong hop profile. Palate is pretty dry and fades fast. On its own, its decent, but for an esb its pretty average considering it lacks body and fruity, floral hoppiness. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2006 Sampled at the brewfest in Adamstown. Pours red-brown with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, floral hops, and sweet malts. The flavor is sweet malts, mild bitterness, and caramel. Decent beer. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Oct 13, 2006 This poured a clear reddish brown with a dense off-white head that coats the glass rather than laces it. Nice toffee aroma off-set by a subtle, earthy bitterness. I wish that subtlety would be more lacking in the flavor. Tasty, malt but without a lot to balance it. Still, a quaffable ale.
