Pours a stunning red amber with a soft and large fluffy head. Perfumy aroma is laced with cherry Children’s Tylenol. Sweet cherry flavor is well balanced with a subtle bitterness. Interesting beer, for sure, more of a west coast red than an ESB.

Very nice, almost red (guess thats why they call it scarlet lady ale) with plenty of foamy head, faded down to cover the top throughout. Nose is very malty, I didn’t pick up on any of the other tones they advertised. Taste is very smooth, the bitterness only really takes over at the end, and the body is pretty much down the middle. Overall, I think it’s a nice beer, but I don’t think i could make a whole session out of the bitterness.

Thanks to DocLock for this exceptional brew. bottle, pours a crystal clear tarnished copper color. much better than what I was expecting. the one other ESB I had sampled was 10 times more bitter than this one. This was a bit malty but balanced perfectly with just some bitterness. it would have been very easy to knock down several of these. I am continually impressed by Stoudt’s!!!

Scarlet color (I guess?) with no real head. Malty aroma. Pretty nice malty flavor with nothing real special to speak of. Above average ESB.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful amber red color with a medium to thick head that laces well and stays good and lumpy. Nose of sweet malt and Saturday morning sweet cereal. Not much hop aroma here, which is comon for the true style I believe. Oh, this is pretty good tasting stuff. Nice light hoppy floral flavor that wraps around the tongue and hangs on for dear life... I really like the first quaff, lets see what the second brings... the malt balances well and sticks to the tongue as the bitter character of the beer holds the finish solid and long. I like this one, especially because it has some good body and carbonation, which some of the ESB’s lack. Another solid brew from Stoudts.

Poured a reddish copper color with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and a little metalic. Flavor is mildly fruity with a hint of hop in the background and light bitter finish. Fairly smooth and clean.

Kind of weak in my opinion...highly effervescent...but too much so. Also, i felt the hops were quite lacking.

Bottle via DocLock: Reddish amber hue with fading small head and some lace. The aroma has notes of sweet and biscuity malts, aromatic and bitter hops, chalky and dusty esters, slight apple nose. The taste starts with a smooth bitter note with an balance of malt. Detected some fruit and bready undertones as well. Finish has that "hard water" quality to it with a weaker bitter profile than expected. The feel is too watery for my taste but does provide the basic elements of an ESB. A quaffable brew with needs more depth of palate to compete with the best of the genre.
