Bottle courtesy of beerbill – thanks Bill. Pours a cloudy dark amber/reddish brown with a one finger creamy off-white head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is caramel and earthy hops. The taste is toffee and light brown sugar with some light tart citrus in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Decent ESB.

clear copper, thin off-white head aroma is light malty with toffee and pepper. nice thin-medium body and fizzyness complement the relatively mild taste of malt and bittersweet hoppy finish.

Pours to a dark chestnut colored body with a non-existent head. The aroma is lightly perfumey with some pale malts. The flavor is perfume and huckleberry. Floral hops. The palate is medium-light bodied and malty. The beer is well made but a style I tend to dislike.

Overall Impression: A really nice example of the ESB style. Good job by Stoudt’s on this one.

Bottled, thanks to Blake for sharing! Poured hazy medium orange with a subtle dusting of off-white head. The aroma picked up earthy and floral hoppage over lightly toasted and caramel maltage.. sweet overall and well-balanced. The flavor picked up caramel and bready sweetness with floral and earthy bitterness.. finished sweet with more caramel and a touch of brown sugar. Light-medium bodied with drier bitterness and tasty, toasty maltage on the palate.. fairly well-balanced and very drinkable.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear reddish-brown, small head, no lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, malt. Flavor is well balanced, diverse. When I think about an ESB, this is what I think of. Think this one is underrated a little bit.

Sampled at Tyler’s, Durham, along with durhambeer. Hazy reddish pour with a lasting creamy head. Soft fruits in the nose, lively and springlike. Mild bitterness and malts emerge in the flavor. Pretty tasty and balanced.

bottle, sampled 4/24/07. Pours a clear dark amber mahogany color, thick off white inch of head that sticks well. Aroma dominated by toasted malty bread, some mild grassy hops, and some light fruity phenols. Flavor follows the nose- dominated by big, nutty, roasted malts. Defined but restrained bitterness bite up front, with some astringent notes. Not so much in the way of hop character, more focus on the bitterness. Palate shows full flavor throughout without being heavy. Decent finish. Solid ESB.
