Stoudt’s Scotch-style ale features a deep, burnished-copper color, sweet and very full-bodied palate, and well-defined characteristics of roasted and peat-smoked malt. This beer is brewed from the finest European ingredients and uses one of the few ale yeasts that ferments cool (55°) and is cold-conditioned or lagered for six weeks prior to bottle-conditioning.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2008 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours a rich, dark mohogany hue. Large, creamy/frothy white head. Mostly lasting with no lacing. The nose is malty with heavy notes of caramel, butterscotch, Enlish toffee, butter, dates and toasted nuts. This Malt-Head would rate this brew very highly on aroma alone. The flavor holds onto all the promise the aroma offers. Molasses, caramel, maple syrup, smoked peat, English toffee and buttery milk chocolate up front. Decently balanced with light pungency and a moderate bitterness on the backside. Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Long, lightly bitter, acrid and malty finish. I love this Scotch Ale!
