COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This medium bodied copper colored strong lager is in a class all by itself. First released in celebration of our 20th Anniversary. Ed Stoudt calls this beer an "American-style Doppelbock" He believes it to be the first high gravity lager brewed with German Malts and American Hops. This brew has a delicate malty palate up front, which is abruptly overshadowed by the dominating ho presence that can be attributed to 1.5lbs/bbl of hops that were added to this brew for aroma & flavor. A hop lover's beer indeed.

Yeast: Bottom Fermenting Lager
Bittering hops: Summit
Aroma hops: Amarillo
Malts: Two-row,Vienna & Others

Local Belmont bottle. Dopplebock, what-the-heck? I was expecting something akin to an IPA from the label. Honestly, I know very little about dopplebocks but this was a tasty, hoppy, malty, lager. Good.

No idea how I haven’t rated this before. Pours an attractive reddish amber color with a moderate off white head. Aroma is of some nice acidic citrus hops, sweet bready malts. Taste is a nice balance of upfront citrus hops, orange rind, sweet bread, honey, grain and a bitter finish. I like it.

Very interesting. Thanks Funkybrewster. Pours a clear reddish amber with a sticky off-white foamy head. Aroma is spicy and citrusy, sweet tangy. Flavor follows, throws me for a loop, orange, citrus, very tangy, some rich vienna/munich that catches the tongue in the finish, not a nice play of acidity though, seemed more like an old sugary IPA to me. Prickly carbonation, slightly sticky. Aftertaste is odd with the dusty character malts.

Pours a clear amber body with a big fluffy white head. Begins with caramel and evolves into a dry grassy finish. Strange but good.

12oz bottle. Ruby color. Creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, nuts. Tastes of toasted malts, resin hops. Smooth, lingering hop bitterness. Creamy texture. Finishes like an American IPA.

Aroma grapefruit, pine, light malt. Flavor sweet malt followed by grapefruit , medium finish. Bitter grapefruit after. Medium light body, medium carbonation. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

malty fruity hoppy and sweet with a sudsy and slightly sharp carbonation. a bit of caramel in the sweetness and mostly grapefruit in the hop that is full. there is a good measure of pine resin in there.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a small off white froth. Aroma is quite hoppy, citric and piney notes up front, a but fruity with a caramel and light bready and doughy notes. Definitely getting more ipa than doppelbock here. Flavor starts hoppy citrus and a bit herbal. Picks up more of the sweet notes later with caramel dark fruit, still a bit bready. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Interesting beer I can’t see it as a doppelbock though
