Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 27, 2008 GABF 2007. A pale brown beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with grassy notes of hops. The flavor is sweet grassy hoppy combined with a light caramel malt character. Nothing special. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 30, 2007 Date: 09/29/2007

Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 8, 2009 Golden-amber. A toasty nose with caramel malt, hints of herbs...but a bit better than that sounds. Citrusy, bright hops with toasty malts. Fairly firm body. Clean. Interesting. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA May 20, 2007 (draft) Crystal clear dark amber body with creamy beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, grapefruit, some floral/orange. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange, some earthy, caramel, somewhat dry finish. Medium body, light resin. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Aug 17, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A complicated recipe that ultimately ended up in an uncomplicated IPA.
I like:
The clean lager character is there alright perhaps allowing more fruitiness to come out from the hops. Pleasant hop profile taking on the grapefruity citrus realm, but also heading towards peppery, pineapple and plain green territory. Good control on the residuals sugars.
I dislike:
Really limited toasted malt presence does not leave much bock character behind the hop fix. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2007 On tap. Poured a medium to deeper orangish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, caramel, and a little floralness. Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, and a touch of alcohol. This one was definitely on the hoppy side. I don’t know if I would have guessed it was a hopped up doppelbock. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle... Mostly clear, deep amber lager with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Endless retention. Caramel and spicy hops in the aroma. Medium-bodied with spritzy carbonation. Sweet medium roast malts and moderately bitter, spicy, Summit hops. Caramel and citrus hop finish. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 6, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, citrus, and floral. Flavor of toasted malt, caramel, and citrusy hops with a dry, bitter finish.
