beerfinder1 (45), PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2007 This is one darn ggod brew. A very hoppy flavor and very smooth. Very tastefull brew. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2007 Very impressive offering from Stoudts. Crisp and hoppy, but thick and malty as well. Almost like biting into a toffee bar. Mellow amber, smoke, and nutty taste notes. Very sweet, warm finish. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Deep ruby brownish pour. Count me in the camp that considers this an IPA, albeit a hugely malty one. Although it has a very malty backbone, and a grapefruity, mangoey, black peppery hop profile that reminded me a lot of a subdued Dreadnaught. Extremely smooth and drinkable, this one is good enough that I’ve already reserved 3 cases from local beer retailers. Another stellar IPA effort from Stoudt’s. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 8, 2008 @Blind Tiger-on tap-pours a tan head and amber color. Aroma is nice citrus/pine hops. Taste is nice citrus/pine hops (Amarillo?). Lighter hops some medium malt. Soft carbonation. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2008 Look - Dark amber, maroonish, very nice head.
Smell - Piny/fruity smell, bitter, but not overly bitter.
Taste - Alcohol is present, very thick, piny, floral taste. Bitterness lingers. Very good hoppy beer! aleisking (2), USA does not count Jun 2, 2007 Dark copper in color. Strong fruit aroma. Nice hop bitterness with a very smooth finish. drtth (7), USA does not count Jul 19, 2009 I think the commercial description of this beer given above is spot on in describing the beer.
The beer medium bodied with a clear copper color. The malty palate up front gives way to the lasting hop presence with a long dry finish. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Sep 20, 2007 Sparkling medium amber in color with a nice pillow of fluff and lots of carbonating bubbles. Sweet tangerines of amarillos attach the senses - odd for a dopple, of course, but yum for me. Sweet melange of toffee sweetness and tangerine hops - those summits can reallyshow nicely in all kinds of beers. Very slick and polished. A lager type pale/IPA, thanks Docster.
