Commercial Description:
A strong, full-bodied Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain that is used imparts a rich array of spicy and fruit-like flavors. The prominent clove and melon notes are complemented by the sweetness and alcoholic warmth of the beer. The appealing color of glowing orange makes this brew irresistible.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian yeast, candi sugar and green apple. Flavor is sweet malt with some sour yeast and bitter hops, alcohol taste is very mellow. Medium body with an average carbonation and a slightly syrupy mouth feel. Not bad, just a bit sweet for me, wish it was a bit drier.

In short: A sugary yet dry spicy triple that feels just a bit too harsh
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed relatively fresh 2 months after purchase
The look: Partly cloudy dark blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is aggressively yeasty plenty of dried fruits and a strong minerals sensation. Taste of mineral water, dried fruits, crushed aspirins, strong spicy character, fruits skin, white sugar (crystal malts?), bananas, dry grass. I like a dry beer but this was crushed aspirin dryness. Aggressive carbonation. Overall this beer feels a bit rough and not highly drinkable. With so many easily available and better examples

The Dan Journal #274. Tasted 7/11/09. 12oz bottle. Hazy with a straw golden hue. Big perfumy nose with nuances of citrus and melons. Rather full bodied with a very zesty palate. Super bright effervescence. Totally gum tingling. Nice citrus, peppery hop note. Lingering, yet dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange body with an off white head. Spicy yeast y notes, grassy, earthy light pepper. Floral fruit with a mild warming. Hints of citrus apples and clove. Good stuff.

12 ounce bottle - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours out a hazed, golden-orange body with a particularly tall, foamy, off-white head, Frothy-looking lacing on the way down. Smell: Sweet-smelling nose of bready pale malts, chipped bubblegum, tangy malted wheat, pulped ripe banana, and powdered spices. Taste: Sweet, tangy mixture of bready, doughy barley and wheat layered in well-crushed rock candy. Fruity blend of pears and juiced bananas liberally seasoned with earthy cracked cloves and even coriander. Light hop character with an equally light bitterness. Peppery alcohol kicks on the back half. Finishes dry, spicy, and warming. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Drinkability: A slow-sipping, acceptable American-born tripel, though I’m quietly reminded why I haven’t regularly purchased this one in the few years since I first tried it.
