Chipper (179), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pour a copper color with an off white head. Very heavy aroma of fruit and spice. Very complex flavors with a little bitter mixed with sweet. An excellent beer. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jun 16, 2008 Thanks to JCB for this one! Copper pour With the aroma of a tripel. Sweet then bitter, with a fruity blast! Solid beer! douqep (8), USA does not count Jun 16, 2008 This is the closest US brewers have come to Blegian beer. Instead of making a Belgian-style beer, they went straight for the real thing somehow. Really strong, like some one tipped some whiskey into it, but true flavor to a traditional Belgian triple. Well balanced and satisfying....just don’t drink too many of them in one sitting. jrmac (210), USA Jun 15, 2008 Pours a hazy gold with a decent white foam. Smells like a triple. Notes of hops, fruit, and alcohol. Taste sweet at first with a good finish with just the right hint of bitterness. High at 9%, but it is hidden. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2008 12oz bottle from Racetrack Liquors (Tampa). Pours a deep, orange-ambwer with a thin tannish head that dissipates quickly providing little lacing on the glass. Smells sweet with notes of honey, caramel, maple syrup, phenol, and fresh nuts. Slightly tangy on initial tasting, notes of honey, caramel, spice are present with a slight bitterness on finish. Alcohol taste comes through at times and is not well-hidden but is not overbearing. Reasonably well-done tripel style ale. donteatpoop (124), Youngstown, Ohio, USA May 25, 2008 Poured a cloudy amber color with a little bit of white head resting at the top. The head didn’t last all that long, but a thin layer of lace was left behind on the glass.
Smells a bit fruity and hoppy and an underlying bananna scent.
The taste is much the same, the bananna flavor and the hops... Tastes a little wheaty as well.
The carbonation level seemed adequate, a nice full body in the mouth. The over all palatial experience was excellent.
I wouldn’t mind drinking this one down more regularly.
Serving type: bottle Pastor (509), Maine, USA May 11, 2008 Thanks to DIM for this one
2007 Bottle poured into a Duvel glass white fluffy head turns to thick lace on top of an apricot body
Aromas of bananas and spices very typical in nose for a triple
Flavors are a bit overwhelmed by the banana (Yeast) you get some spiciness to it but it could be more pronounced
Mouthfeel is spot on for the style but it could use a bit more carbonation for my taste
This is a good American try at a triple. I think the brew still need to be tweaked a little, to be up to the other awesome brews I have had from Stoudt’s
heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 10, 2008 Hazy dark gold body with a lightly off white head. The aroma is like heated peach cobbler with some nice cinnamon and biscuits. There is also some clean laundry soap. The taste has some dry notes of cinnamon and banana peels. A little bit of nasty plastic. An ok beer, but the strange finish throws of fthe whole thing.
