billk (300), Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA Apr 12, 2008 Tap at Stoudts. Cloudy amber gold with white head. This triple was rich, creamy, and silky smooth with plenty of spiciness and flavor. Moderate sweetness balanced nicely with the hops. Well into medium bodied. Alcohol perfectly integrated. Was the best thing we had that day at Stoudts. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Mar 25, 2008 i find the body moderate as beer goes. the clove flavor is gratefully refined with quality sweetness. equally appreciative is that this flavor is truly earthy and moderate. the alcohol is not really too warming and the fruit flavors are muted. a semi fizzy yet swirl of bubbles rises from the bottom of the glass as an interesting finish to the pour. a light foamy head as of plastic. the yeast does a fine job of doing as it should for this type of brew. it is one of the more pleasant beers of this variety. in this offering careful moderation which creates good balance is the key to something that in turn is really quite good. as i am not really a fan of the style. BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 23, 2008 Not great, decent triple. a little over priced. Aroma of apples and cloves. Flavor of strong yeast a very zesty citrus, dark fruits. Fizzy. Alcohol slightly present. Sharper carbonation. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 19, 2008 Bottle. I thought I had rated this but oh well here it goes. This beer has become a steady warm weather beer for me but I am enjoying this on a dark rainy day. Beautiful golden body with thin head. Aroma is yeasty and earthy with light tropical fruits. Flavor is light spices and fruit, earthy and a medium to heavy mouthfeel. Easily quenches whatever mood I’m in for a nice Belgian Tripel. popdoggy (100), USA Mar 16, 2008 This was good. However at 15 a sixer, dont think I would buy it again.
An okay take on one of my favorite styles.... lots of clove and yeasty flavors.
Mouthfeel was nice, maybe a bit cloying. Not terrible, Not great... just okay... nice beer for 1 or 2. I am sure the remaining 4 will be drunk within a month.
thill25 (216), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 12, 2008 12 oz bottle...Poured a golden-orange w/ a fizzy white head. Nose of apples, caramel, spice, dark fruits, sweet yeast...Tasted like apples, caramel, candied fruits, spice bread...Soemwhat fizzy, medium bodied...A sipper, not a session beer. Better than I expected! sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Mar 10, 2008 Bottle->tulip glass. Pours a small, creamy, but diminishing head atop of a cloudy, light amber body. Aroma yields caramel, bread, perhaps even some mealishness. Hops are perfume and the yeast is a bit doughy on the nose. The flavor’s duration is average, lightly sweet, acidic, and bitter. On the palate, the body is medium with an alcoholic texture, lively carbonation with an astringent finish.
Not a bad beer, but lackluster compared to other triples. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Feb 29, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Oak Tree, hi Dan and Jay. Poured a hazy brownish/orange with a large soapy white head that rapidly disipates and leaves no lacing, bummer. Nice aroma with lots of candied sugar, green apples, toast and yeast notes. Medium to full bodied with a smooth finish and average carbonation. Fruity flavor with notes of apple, brown sugar, yeast and dry toast. I served this one a bit to cold, God Damn well functioning refrigerator, but was a great take on an Abe Tripel.
