malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Dec 15, 2007 Rating #200. 12 ounce bottle in Westmalle glass. Hazy golden orange with flat white head. Candy sugar, alcohol, and fruit (peach, apricot) aroma. Mild honey sweetness, very fruity, mild tobacco bitterness, candy sugar alcohol finish. Medium-full body, medium carbo. Particularly fresh, bottled 11/08/07. Might be better aged a few months. A decent triple but not one of the best. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Dec 15, 2007 Man this thing was pretty sludgey - the yeast was running around the bottle at the end - very sweet and spicy - tasted less then 9% - ok JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Dec 10, 2007 Another one of those weird American tripels. Hazy orange body with a nutty/yeasty aroma, this one has an oddly cloying quality. Doesn’t seem to know whether it’s a sweet malt brew or a tart effervescent one. Ends up being a bit of a mess. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Nov 19, 2007 From bottle : Pours a hazy amber orange color, with a small short lived fizzy white head. Nose of fruits, bananas, some yeast. Flavor is fruity as well, not as good as other trippel, the aroma wasnt as good either. Also very detectable alcohol content in the flavor. Palate is pretty heavy for this style, kinda weird bittery ending. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Nov 11, 2007 Not that great for a tripel. Wheaty and yeasty flavor, with definite alcohol presence. The flavor is weak for the level of alcohol. A strangely bitter yeasty finish that wasn’t too pleasant. Easily drinkable though. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Nov 9, 2007 Bottle from SL. The pour was hazy golden in color, initial head that faded quickly. The aroma was firm strong bananas and cloves, wheaty elements, like a hefeweizen. The flavor was rich and full hefe, imperial hefe-like, a little too sweet for my likings, although the body was thick or syrupey. I also wanted some saaz action, but maybe I’m wanting too much. MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 3, 2007 golden with off white fizzy head. slightly spicy, yeasty aroma with an alcohol component. Flavor is not as robust as it could be. Slightly thin and lacking in complexity. Rather noticeable alcohol in the flavor. Overall, an average tripel. surffisher (194), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Nov 1, 2007 2006 12-oz bottle. Pours deep peach colored, cloudy and chunky, with a modest white head that dissipates to splotchy coverage. Soft aroma of cloves, sweet dough, and a complex mix of undefinable fruity esters...both citrusy and banana notes come through. The flavor is complex, mild and tasty. Fairly sweet overall, but pretty balanced with a modestly dry finish. Extrordinarily smooth, medium-full palate with moderately high tingly carbonation. Warming but not alcoholic. This is a fine tripel and much better than I expected.
