jdubilla (12), Athens, Ohio, USA Dec 7, 2005 Bottle. Never had this style before, but it is good. Sweet and fruity with a mellow aftertaste, light alcohol taste even with 9%.
larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Dec 3, 2005 Offwhite, smallish head; hazy red body. Sweet, spicy aroma of paradise seeds, stale hops, and bread, with something sharp in it. Sharp taste of paradise seeds and citrusy hops, faint roasty notes. Citrusy hops and bitterness make up the van. Quite good, but too much yeast, not enough balance, and not enough complexity. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Dec 1, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy orange body with a small white head. Aroma of light citrus and ginger. Flavor of orange peel, ginger, and more alcohol as the beer warms. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2005 Updated: Aug 26, 2007I have had this beer a few times over the last couple of years. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy dark golden color with a small white head. The aroma is very sweet and has a strong tangy ripe fruit element. The flavor is strong sweet sugar with ripe fruits and honey. There is a mild alcohol burn. The mouthfeel is moderately thick. Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Nov 26, 2005 Very pleasant first whiff, huge malty with a vinous edge. Caramel notes and I agree with Lumpy’s note of honey. A little thin around the mouth. Some later senses of confectionary sugar and caramel, spiced. Bronze/yellow with an off-white ring of head. Pretty good in the major dimensions. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA Nov 26, 2005 Bottle. Gorgeous sweet honey, malt, caramel nose. Very big pleasing nose. Dark orangish/brown body with no head. Taste-caramel, dark spices, sweet malt, some honey. Aftertaste has lots of spice, some honey. Very thick and sticky mouthfeel. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Nov 24, 2005 12oz bottle from Puzzl. Pours a cloudy brown color with a lighter brown head. Nose is lightly yeasty, some nuts and minimal dark fruits. A hint of doughy bread here and there. Taste is lightly bready, some nuts here and there, a little bit of grape skins and a slight alcohol warmth in the finish. adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2005 Pours a cloudy hazy copper color with a small white head. Aroma is spicy, with hints of caramel apple, nutmeg, bubble gum and sugar cookies. Taste is fruity and spicy with hints of nutmeg, bubble gum, molasses and spice cake flavor. Good but not spectacular for a tripel. Id take Golden Monkey over this one any day.
