Some speckled sediment floating freely, and a small, creamy grey head with good retention throughout. Aroma is wondrous, with strawberry shortcake, vanilla, cloves, lavender, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and candi sugar. Flavor is rich and sweet. Banana, cinnamon, cloves and pepper register first, followed closely by a saffron and floral composure with some anise to spice things up. On the underbelly lies caramelized plantains. Light yet substantive. Somewhat effervescent, but very much in control. Finishes with orange crème, pepper and cloves. Satisfyingly sweet and easily Stoudts best beer that I’ve had. Thanks for the bottle, tpkenned! jsquire (2098), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Deep golden color with an almost brassy head when first poured. Honey sweet nose with some spicey and alcoholic tones. Honey syrup flavors with an almost peppery heat. The alcohol in noticable in the exhale. Very lively on the tongue. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA

Pours a honey carmel color (or glowing orange, whatever) and has a small head that builds up then settles down lacing about 1/2 the glass. Bottled, drank from a mason jar. The taste is sort of sweet with a coffee-ish taste. Slightly bitter finish, guess it’s the alcohol, which gave me a slight shudder after I’d let it warm up. Drink this ho cold, it does not do well warm like similar beers. I’d say try it....you’ll love it or hate it but at least you’ll be a little wiser. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2005 It is east coast triple night here at the household. This was preceeded by a Victory Golden Monkey which was pretty tasty, how will this beer hold up to it? 12oz bottle, no date listed, but I have held the beer for several months. The beer is served at 64° in my NB worthy glass. The color is golden orange with a small, whispy now, off white head and the beer sports a ton of fine, suspended (and otherwise) particles. The aroma is orange blossom honey, orange, lemon, banana, yeast, and vanilla? The taste, at first, is tart, citric, (almost sweet) malt with melon (they are right) flavors. The next taste is spicy, with some alcohol heat and a peppery finish, that is nicely dry with some citric notes. The mouthfeel is very nice. A very, very fine beer. Thanks go out to the Captain and whoever got me this beer, it pains me to say that I forgot.
