Commercial Description:
A strong, full-bodied Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain that is used imparts a rich array of spicy and fruit-like flavors. The prominent clove and melon notes are complemented by the sweetness and alcoholic warmth of the beer. The appealing color of glowing orange makes this brew irresistible.

Body pours a cloudy golden orange with no head. Banana and alcohol in the aroma, and a lot of the same from the flavor. Also, bubble gum and cantaloupe. Lightly carbonated for an appropriate nice mouthfeel.

A bottle on golden amber goodness from Richlikebeer. Poured amber/brown and very cloudy, as I would expect from a bottle conditioned abbey. Delicious aroma of malts and sour yeast. Poured a little to aggressive, my bad. Head is creamy off white, and big. This has a bite of a sour taste in the after taste. I taste the clove, which I don’t love, but also taste the melon. Better than average.

This baby’s going on my "Must-Have" Christmas list, Groundhog Day List, Super Bowl list, Easter List, Bob Clow Day list, Pistachio Day list, PS2 Medal of Honor and Call of Duty list, etc. I pour this one in an oversized Karmeliet glass. The nose is nonpareil! Color--gorgeous. Taste--well, I don’t give 20’s for nothing. Run. Don’t walk. Buy it. Drink it. Love it.

Hazy orange body with a delightful, thick head of creamy (both in color and texture) bubbles. Tons of yeast floaters that look like feta cheese chunks. Smell is fragrant fruits, mostly apple and pear, and some yeast. Flavor is large, sweet, tasty and complex with apple malt up front, lemony hop zest, and a proper for the style clove/musty cedar flavor. Aftertaste is a cornucopia of fruit, ranging from said apples to plums and figs. Alcohol warms but does not intrude on palate. This is a very good beer by a brewery that only a few months ago I did not like. Impressive. Sampled from a 12oz bottle.

12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. No freshness date seen anywhere. Poured out a chill hazed orange color, with a thick, frothy tan colored head at first. Served in a Chimay chalice for proper effect. This beer has a serious case of too much proteins left from the fermentation process. There’s enough yeast left in the bottle to ferment a whole other 5 gallon batch. It certainly wasn’t fermented warm enough. Sweet aromas of tropical fruits & melons greet the nose, along with spicy cloves. Flavors are of yeasty bread, some malts, and fruity esters. Medium mouthfeel, too thick for the style. Also the color is way too dark for the style. Carbonation is fast fading, because of the undissolved proteins this beer contains. An interesting beer, but they really need to research the style before calling it something it most certainly is not. Back to the drawing board, Stoudt’s.

Sweet and spicy, both in smell and flavor. The taste is, for lack of a better description, "well blended," with little prominence of any one element. High alcohol will leave you feeling and smelling like death the next morning.

Pours a very cloudy orange...lotsa chunks in there. The nose is spicey and fruity with hints of banana and cloves. The body is quite sweet and very yeasty with a spiciness coming through, and again some cloves. Fruity with banana notes and sweet malt towards the end. In interesting version of a triple. Thanks DocLock for the trade!

Bottled (12oz): This beer isn’t eye candy, very yeasty orange hue with almost no head or lace. A nice swirl does release some carbonation, so it isn’t flat and there is an oily film so the body is good. The aroma is extremely spicy and fruity with heavy notes of melon, currant, banana, clove, cardamom, overall nose has an outstanding yeast character. The taste starts candi and sugery sweet with those same fruit overtones. A nice dosage of bitters and spice add depth to the palate. While not true to style, it is interesting and enjoyable. The alcohol is hidden mostly, only feel it towards the very end of the glass. I like this more than expected. This is a love it or leave it beer it seems. Thanks DocLock for the trade.
