richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 13, 2005 Mild malty aroma, little bit of yeast scent as well. Looks darker than other triples, almost a cinnamon color, with decent white head. Flavor has a nice spicy tang, with fruity undertones. The alcohol is only barely noticable at the tail end. Body is medium and there is the standard bitterness on the tail, and it kind of lingers in your mouth after you swallow. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Jan 8, 2005 This beers pours dark red and has a lot of yeast. The head is more like an IPA in appearance because it is less cloudy then a typical triple. The head is not as creamy as one would expect from a tripel. The taste is dominated by the alcohol and has wheat and fruit flavors in it as well. The problem is the bitterness is like an IPA. IPAs are the strongest asset of this brewing company in my opinion. This is not as good. The finish has a lot of hops in it. I liked it, but the finish was not like a tripel in my opinion. Pretty good and worth the shot. Kinz (2179), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jan 5, 2005 Hazy gold, floaties, small head that died totally. Aroma of spice, slight clove, warming alcohol, and tropical fruit, quite pleasant. Unbalanced palate, starting with a Belgian candy sugar sweetness that is quickly consumed by a somewhat harsh alcohol note. The fruit and spice flavors are almost completely masked by the alcohol. Too bad. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jan 4, 2005 12 oz bottle - Deep murky golds and ambers, thin white head. Nose held notes of spicy clove and corriander, sugared pears, light banana, with a nice bready note as well. A bit on the sweet side, nicely spiced, with a light hops rounding this out. Full bodied and chalky, medium carbonation, semi-sweet, spicy finish. Not the best, but a decent represenation of the style..... jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Jan 1, 2005 Updated: Mar 18, 200512 oz. 2004 bottle. Cloudy amber orange with a quickly fading white head. Has a quarter inch of yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Banana yeasty/spicy nose. Taste is very sweet and malty with notes of clove, banana, coriander, candi sugar, caramel and dark fruit. Syrupy, not much bitterness detected. Slight tinge of alcohol in the finish. Very full, round and velvety smooth on the palate with lively but not too much carbonation. NIce stuff. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 1, 2005 12 oz bottle. Cloudy, yeasty, orange ale. Lots of yeast on the bottom of the bottle - up there with hefeweizens and homebrews. Earthy, bready aroma with flowery notes. Classic triple flavor with lots of yeast, spicy hoppy finish. cb (809), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Dec 30, 2004 Spicy, herbal and yeast aroma. Fruity and not so sweet. Apples, pears, banana. Beautifully balanced and lasting sticky palate. jeffc666 (1886), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Dec 30, 2004 12oz bottle First off, these new 12oz Stoudt’s beers have more yeast in them then you can imagine. Cloudy orange-yellow, with large yeast chunks milling about biding there time before releasing their vitamin B into my gullet and hopefully keeping my head from aching tomorrow. Rocky off-white head. The aroma is sweet and yeasty. Light citrus and very earthy. Flavorwise sweetness and light spice are dominant. The citrus disappears. Lighlty bitter. Alcohol is present, though in a good way. Medium to full body. Slightly harsh carbonation. A good though not greast triple. More than any othe style, excellent triples seem to be few and far between.
