bkurtz (276), Peru Jan 17, 2009 Poured cloudy golden with a small head for a Belgian triple. Nice citrus aroma with a bit of spice. Nice beer, but not as good as true Belgian triple. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bright golden orange pour with white head. Clove, banana, citrus, and yeast on the nose, but all pretty overwhelmed by metallic and boozy aromas that take it over. This was actually pretty terrible for the first few sips, but it opened up and I warmed up to it a bit. Still never fully shook the booze and metal. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 5, 2009 I don’t know. Sometimes I get a weird v8 taste from a beer. I get it from this one. I don’t think it’s just me. Well this one is slightly yeasty with a v8 scent. It’s got a decent sweet flavor that finishes with tomato juice. I sorta liked this but I wonder what the hell happened to this bottle to make it taste this way. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Jan 4, 2009 750 ml bottle. 2001 Vintage printed on the lower right corner of the label. Pours a cloudy orange gold with a moderate linen white head that completely disappeared after the first sip and left no lace. The aroma is filled with alcohol vapors along with some malt, yeast, and brown sugar. The flavor is initially sweet malt and yeast, however, this is quickly overrun by a massive amount of alcohol. Thin, watery body. I managed to get down a few mouthfulls, enough so I could rate this mess, and then down the drain it went. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Dec 31, 2008 Pours a translucent golden yellow with a thin frothy white head. The nose is sweet, spicy, honey, alcohol, Belgian yeastyness, earthy, fruity. Flavor is sweet, fruity, earthy, yeasty, warming alcohol, spicy. Very traditional Belgian feel. Nice spicy earthy feel on the palate. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 11, 2008 2001 Vintage tasted at Backus Backyard Bash. Pours yellow with a white head and a creamy mouthfeel. Taste is sweet and fruity. Lots of sugar flavor with a good amount of yeast. splat (4), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Dec 6, 2008 Poured from a 12 oz bottle. The fruits definitely hit home and it strikes me as a little immature. I enjoyed this one but gonna cellar a couple and see what happens in 12 months or so. fluffy (229), Florida, USA Dec 6, 2008 i have to say ive never really liked anything thats come out of Stoudts. this one looks beautiful-cloudly amber with a thick head. but the alchol wollop drowns out any flavors. its sour without any real balance. bitter on the palette. no real spice to speak of. ill pass on yet another from this brewery.
