Commercial Description:
A strong, full-bodied Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain that is used imparts a rich array of spicy and fruit-like flavors. The prominent clove and melon notes are complemented by the sweetness and alcoholic warmth of the beer. The appealing color of glowing orange makes this brew irresistible.

Sampled at le Mondial de la bière 2005. Pours a hazy caramel color with a thin white head. Very appealing aroma of yeast, citrus and bananas. Flavor of yeast, citrus, bananas and spices. Light to medium body, creamy and oily texture, soft carbonation. Very good.

Bottle pours a cloudy dirty butterscotch, medium foamy off-white head, with spotty lacing.   Heavy bready aroma, some cloves and spices, as well as subtle notes of alcohol.   Heavy light fruit (apples/pears) and a strong dough like flavor on the tongue.   Body is almost there, but the mouthfeel seems rather thick and viscous.   Finishes very bready, thick, semi-sweet, with lingering clove.   Pretty tasty!   Thanks goes out to TAR for the trade!

In short: A sugary yet dry spicy triple that feels just a bit too harsh
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed relatively fresh 2 months after purchase
The look: Partly cloudy dark blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is aggressively yeasty plenty of dried fruits and a strong minerals sensation. Taste of mineral water, dried fruits, crushed aspirins, strong spicy character, fruits skin, white sugar (crystal malts?), bananas, dry grass. I like a dry beer but this was crushed aspirin dryness. Aggressive carbonation. Overall this beer feels a bit rough and not highly drinkable. With so many easily available and better examples

12-oz. Thanks, Laura! Murky bright gold. Creamy medium gray film atop. Big green apply nose. Fizzy body on the high side of medium. Green apples and lightly sour malt on the mid-palate. Mildly fruity finish.

Malt, caramel and scotch aromas. Cloudy amber with a small head. Big malt taste, alcohol is apparent, full bodied. A big one!

Hazy light orange color with small white head. Strong sweet brown sugar, molasses and malt aroma. Tastes just as it smells with strong sweet flavor, high carbonation, that Belguim yeast/spice and malt. I don’t detect much in the way of hop flavor or bitterness.

This was a pretty nice tripel, pouring a slightly cloudy orange with a thin white head. Very floral sweet citrus notes in the aroma with a dry spiciness and sweet fruity esters. Lots of upfront sweetness in the flavor, with a fairly heavy body and light carbonation. There was a bit of tartness in the finish, with a bitter finish and a citrus candy aftertaste.
