Deep amber in color, it pours with a minimal tan head that can be brought back with a simple swirl of the glass. Rosted malt arom with hints of bubble gum, fruit, and clove in the aroma. An overtone of carmelized sugar emerges as well. On the tongue, a nice sourness balnces the malt sweetness anf the fruitiness quite well. It is a delicate balance, and neither assumes control of the taste. For 9% ABV, this beer is almost refreshing. The mouthfeel is solid, but a little too astringent. However, the light effervescent carbonation offsets the astringency a bit. The drinkability is excellent, as the alcohol was barely discernable and the palate was always clean. A very nice beer that has matured well mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours an dark amber-orange body with a medium-sized medium white head. The aroma consists of oranges, lemon, spicy cereal hops, and some sweet pears. Thick alcoholic palate with an average flavour profile- quite bready and very sweet but not really over the top. Not all that complex in the end. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2003 The beer was a brilliant golden colour with a nicely developed white head. The aroma was pretty nice, mostly sweet but somewhat musty and spicy. The taste was very sweet as well, but yeast and clove characteristics came out during the aftertaste. Definately a good example of an Abbey Tripel, but not the best i've had. Bottled: 8.january.2003, this was almost six months old when I had it (4.july.2003) and was purchased in a 765 mL bottle from Harris Teeter (grocery store) in Arlington, Virginia. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2005 Copper color with a small white head floating on top. Strong aroma of sweet bananas, peach, pineapple, alcohol, and bubblegum along with elements of nutmeg, spice, and yeast. Good balance of flavors wth sweet flavors of fruit, molasses and alcohol most prevelant. Additional flavors of yeast, spice, and nutmeg contribute. The finish is a sticky sweet molasses type flavoring. Interesting beer. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
