Very dark. Spicy, earthy, coffee nose with some liquorice. The body is a little light with light coffee character. Faint earthy and nuttiness late.

Re-rate (2002 version): Dark copper body with healthy tan head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramle more than anything else. Tastes more lager than ale, with German and earthy hops softened by a healthy malt backbone. Mild flavor, witha sweet aftertaste.

12oz bottle-pours a thick, light brown head that reduces. Black color with red tones. Aroma is strong coffee, malt. I know the label says: Cocoa. Taste is strong coffee, cocoa, malt, good carbonation. Coffee aftertaste. Not my usual taste, but well done. Best by 4/9/06.
