Bottled (under license by Fredericks Brewing). Dark ruby, rich head. Grapefruity hoppy nose. Clean mouthfeel. there's some crystal malt and loads of toffee. Velvetty, yet bitter, finish with spun sugar and pine needles.

Very dark. Spicy, earthy, coffee nose with some liquorice. The body is a little light with light coffee character. Faint earthy and nuttiness late.

Re-rate (2002 version): Dark copper body with healthy tan head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramle more than anything else. Tastes more lager than ale, with German and earthy hops softened by a healthy malt backbone. Mild flavor, witha sweet aftertaste.

Pours amber with an offwhite head. Aroma is vanilla and milk chocolate. Flavor is sweet and creamy, but also offers a nice bitterness.

12oz bottle-pours a thick, light brown head that reduces. Black color with red tones. Aroma is strong coffee, malt. I know the label says: Cocoa. Taste is strong coffee, cocoa, malt, good carbonation. Coffee aftertaste. Not my usual taste, but well done. Best by 4/9/06.

Bottle 2006. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium spicy sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Crystal clear, dark orange ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is fruity and sweet. The well-balanced flavor is a touch malty with light caramel, but mostly thin and non-descript. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Short, crisp, clean finish.
