Cruzan59 (122), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2008 On tap at the brewery in late February (yes I’m running behind but I have my notes!)...poured dark brown with minimal beige head...aroma of roasted malts, bit of chocolate and brown sugar...flavor was that of malts, chocolate, toasted nuts, coffee...not very heavy...an easy drink...I actually thought this was more of a brown ale as opposed to a Porter...good none-the-less!
rocbyter (594), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Apr 25, 2008 Strong roasted malt aroma with light amounts of chocolate. Dark amber color with a medium white. Mild start that getting a moderate malt bitterness in the finish. Creamy palate jehoey (696), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2008 Aroma was mild hops with chocolate notes. poured black with tan head, really black... flavor was ASTRINGENT totally, and made the beer unenjoyable. some chocholate flavors backed it up. really dried out the mouth and was much too thin, one of the thinest dark beers I’ve ever had. DragonsHead (101), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 17, 2008 Poured a deep brown color with some sweet roasted aroma. Hints of chocolate on the taste with a smooth finish. A very easy drinking porter. Ughsmash (2835), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Feb 25, 2008 Thanks to Ken for the bottle! BB 4/20/08. Poured clear, deep garnety-brown with a creamy, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma picked up some well-roasted semi-sweet chocolates with some nuttiness.. there was a cool, warm, spicy accent that I couldn’t quite place. The flavor had almost-burnt darker chocolates at the core, with a lightly-stale nutty and dry coffee finish.. didn’t finish very well.. some piney bitterness showed on the sides, too. Medium-bodied with only a decent flow on the palate.. this started off well, but devolved to "meh" as the drink progressed.
