Given our love of science, it should be no surprise that we named our triple IPA after T2R, a class of bitter receptors on your tongue. This is a hop bomb, but balanced and dangerously drinkable. For a good time, put some T2R on your T2Rs.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber orange with a medium sized white head. Medium bodied, big and boozy, warm sticky citrus, musk, tropical fruit, candied fruits. Big, boozy, slightly challenging to drink. Slow grapefruit and citrus on the finish, sticky malt. Picks up a touch of the green onion mango thing that every hoppy beer seems to taste like these days.

Draft at Stoup. Bright, hazy gold. Thick creamy head. Big and very smooth. Hops are complex, but also a muddle of flavor. But it pretty much works. Minty and quite fresh. Very tasty, nice treat.

Draft pour at Special Brews. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a big bubbly head. Light lemon fruity hop aroma. Flavor is quite refreshing at first, but turns super bitter quickly. Citrus fruit throughout with a more dry bitter hop finish. Not bad, but not my favorite in the style.

On tap at Brouwer’s, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of skunky herbal pot-like hops, body odour, and some weird plasticy off-flavours. Flavour is thankfully more pleasant, with notes of floral hops, pine, and candied sugar - surprisingly very different from the nose. Very solid stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 On tap @ Brouwers. Pours very pale orangish amber with minimal white head. Aroma is big sweet boozy malt, floral hops, and some odd not terrible but distracting off notes. Taste is clean but potent sugary sweet light malt with a sharply bitter hop finish. Nice earthy and citrus notes on the hops. Lingers bitter on the finish. Not bad.
