Pitch black with a greyish head and nice carbonation. Reddish hints when held up to the light. Chocolate citric breadiness with hints of fruits and cardamom. A solid smell. Stout-like bitterness with a nice watery finish, Coffee bitterness. Delicious!

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with a creamy and huge head. Nose is spicy and bubble gum like with dark malt notes. Aroma is malty, spicy, chocolate and brown malt notes with vinous hints, apricot and licorice notes, good quadruple complex and good brown notes.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a pillow tan head. Left a lot of floaters in the beer. Lots of lacing left behind as well. Aroma was dark fruit, figs and plums. Flavor was amazing. Fruits, apples, figs and molasses. Alcohol was a non factor. Long finish. Great, great beer.

Pour is a dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma is a outstanding dark plum and candi sugar. Sugar plums dancing? Flavor is sweet dark fruit with some wine like qualities. Booze is there but not over the top. Finish has lots of brown sugar, fruit and even a little hoppyness comes out. This was a very tasty and powerful sipping beer.

Bottle 33 cl from Le Grain d’Orge - Neuchâtel (CH). Brown with huge foam, complex aromas of fruit and alcohol, chocolate and caramel. Liqueur-like mouth, roasted and chocolate malt, round and sweetened. There are spices, hints of vanilla, pepper, raisin, burnt sugar, confectioner’s shop, and plum-pear. Finish in silky, moderate bitterness and warmth of alcohol. Nice.

33 cl. bottle @ home \ this one is a quad from the Halve Maan (Half Moon) brewery from Bruges, they are apparently the only brewery in the centre of Bruges which is a fact that they stress frequently in their advertisement \ I still remember drinking Brugse Zot by them back when it was still rather unknown and better than now days, still much better on draft than in a bottle, these days this brewery has been really cranking it, they seem to have a pretty good pr & distribution \ I keep seeing their beers everywhere and lots of people seem to them know at least by name \ I have seen this one quite frequently but not being particularly impressed by their other beers so far, I have mostly passed this one by so far \ After I saw it at the local supermarket, I decided to get a bottle \ It pours a amber/brown with a nice ruby glow and a beige head \ Smells very sweet with caramel, lots of sweet winter spices and touch of winter herbs, caramelised raisins, overripe dark fruits, caramelised malt and superglue \ Taste is lots of slightly bitter, fermenting dark fruits, very heavy on the spices and strongly herbal as well, lots of raisins, spoiled grapes & spicy yeast, touch of plastic in there as well, alcohol in the finish \ Body is rather light especially given the strength and alleged style plus it is also sparkling \ This one is clearly not a quad, the use of that term is 100 % marketing this is a middling to slightly below average Strong Dark Belgian Ale, not particularly impressive as have been the other offerings that I have tried so far from this brewery but not necessarily terrible or bad even just a bit too much lowest common abominator

Bottle drunk at home day after buying so cloudy and yeasty. This is a fantastic quad! I shall ttry another after a few weeks in the cellar and will probably give it 20/20. Superbe prune and malt flvour without a sticky sweetnessand a fine carbonation.. SH beers are, for me, amogst the best Belgians.
I’m surprised that this gets such a low average score!

Boring!

Bottle@Home. Prune and vanilla aroma. Brown, beige head, very nice lace. Sweet, very bitter, herbal, pepper, vanilla, laurel, quite complex. Warming and full. Pretty alcoholic, bitter for a Quad but very balanced. Different from any Belgian Quadruple IMO.
