From a 330 ml bottle, deep red pour with a small foamy head, decent carbonation, in the aroma cherries, berries, candy sugar, pistachio nuts, Finish is quite short it’s sweet in the mouth but the finish is smooth and well balanced. Hides the 11% abv well. Top quality.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2013 33cl, BB 11/2015. - Pours an unctuous dark brown/purple with solid off-white head. Aroma is is an aromatic and port-like syrup of sweet dark fruits. Taste is immensely layered as you would expect of a quadruple, ranging from intital malt and dark fruit sweetness with heavy alcohol to coffee roast dryness and pronounced hop spice shifting to take centre stage as it warms. Strange effervescence for a beer this heavy. Depending on your drinking needs of the evening, you could dub this mix willfully complex or dramatically confused. What remains is a unique and artfully crafted mahogani master of a quad.

Dark, really good beer. Creamy head. Slight after taste or would be perfect. I bought at random in a Liege Belgium grocery along with three others. This was definitely the best of the group. Not as sweet as Rochefort 10 (my favorite other than Westvleteren 12) but good enough that I will definitely recommend and buy again.

Deep clear mahogany orange body with a large tan colored head. Pungent sweet vanilla, dried light fruits and christmas spices on the nose. Smooth, full bodied and alcoholic. Pungent sweet and bitter with toasted notes and spicy roasted hints. Dry tongue. Even warms the throat.

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 11%. Very dark brown to ruby colour, large beige head. Nicy spicy and intensely malty aroma, also notes of brown sugar, dark dried fruits and oak. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with distinct notes of spices, oak, malts and molasses, also dark dried fruits again. Pretty impressive stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark brown Belgian barley wine with a lot of fig in the nose, a firm clean bitterness, off-dry, warmth in the belly but not on the tongue. Best by says 2015; I don’t know its age but there is an oxidized sherry note that the ale handles with grace. Otherwise it’s a bit clean and ought to have more flavor for its strength.

2013.03.28 - Straffe Hendrik Brugs Quadrupel - 750ml bottle in pint glass. Label marked 21-11-2014.
Aroma is candy sugar, plum and fig type fruit, some bready yeast. Sill, an atypical Belgian aroma in my experience.
Appearance: Pours around 18 on the SRM scale, a beautiful rich clear brown. Light tan head is quite active, almost.perfect in carbonation and size, sticky.
Taste: I agree with reviewer below "Subtle alcohol taste which brings a nice body to the beer. Then you can savour vanilla and caramel flavours and a little hint of a sweet and pleasant red fruit, perhaps raspberry". I don’t know how to describe it, a really nice balance of sweet, tart, and alcohol warmth. Perhaps a bit heavy on alcohol burn, but it’s an exceptional taste.
Palate: Mostly light despite being an 11% abv, moderately high carbonation.
A really nice beer, repeat purchase worthy for sure.
