3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Rather roasty nose for a quadruple. Some molasses, a bit of chocolate, and quite a bit of alcohol. There is a decent bit of spice and fruit, though. Tastes a bit boozy, but some good sugar and molasses sweetness. A fair amount of chocolate and roasted malt which give a light bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Kaisla, 201209027) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, chocolate, alcohol and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, malts, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity, malty and bitter. An unbalanced quadrupel. It had tripel and quadrupel charcteristics. Not bad but could have been better. Original rating: 3.6.
After the beer had warmed up the aroma and the taste became dominated by green apples. So, I needed to tune my ratings lower.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33 cL portion at the Halve Maan brewery in Brugge. Black with a fair head, in bulb glass. Sweet, candied, with some bitterness. Smells sweet and a hint roasted. Tasty but a bit of sweet hiding the alcohol syndrome.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at The Fred. Pours dark brown with a small, beige head. The aroma is figs, molasses, cola, and black cherries. The flavor is very sweet, with a very little bitterness. The palate is medium to heavy, malty, sticky, and fairly carbonated. Overall, this is a delicious, well made beer, with a good flavor and nice mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl. bottle poured in to a trappist glass. Jet black with a fluffy tan head. Sweet aroma with malts, caramel, dark chocolate, plums, spices and herbal hops. Taste is sweet. Full body, surprisingly carbonated for the abv., not unpleasant. Finishes long lasting with caramel malts, chocolate, licorice, port dark dried fruits and a hint of alcohol. Good quadrupel.
