COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Poured from bottle, pours a burnt amber with a red hue in the light and a thin head, the aroma is of candy sugar with dark fruit and plum, the flavor is of dark fruit on the front end with a little bit of alcohol burn in the finish, nothing out of this world but still enjoyable.

Bottle. Reddish brown beer with a strong brownish head. The aroma is roasted and malty, and the flavour is quite deeply spiced with a gingerness about it and a bitter roasted and malty finish. Overall a reasonable strongly malty and spiced beer.

Flaske: Orange brun klar øl med en stor skumkrone. Meget karbonering. Fin duft af malt og en smule frugt. Smagen er frisk grundet den store karbon ering men stadig en stor maltsødme. Udmærket øl.

Nose has toffee, malts, alcohol and a touch of vanilla. Flavors are very complex. I get fruits (pears and oranges), spicey bread, some licorice. A background of brown sugars, some vanilla, alcohol, and yes even a little coconut. It has a full body and finishes slighty bitter and dry. I think this is a great beer and should get a second chance if it was rated poorly. It is very interesting.

Tallahassee, Fl - Liquor Loft - 750 ml cage corked bottle. Dark chestnut brown pour with a nice sticky khaki colored head that leaves a nice coat of lacing. Pleasant, sweet aroma with hints of brandy, molasses and bubble gum. Bold flavor with some sweet toffee, dates, molasses, some candi sugar notes, a bit of bubble gum, hint of chocolate, brandy and a back end of brown sugar. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Very solid enjoyable Quad.

Deep chestnut pour, with a medium sized off-white head. Tons of raisin in this, with candy sugar, dried dark fruit, clove, nutmeg, and light cinnamon. The alcohol comes through slightly and is warming. Like spiced raisin bread. Decent.
