Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2016 Muy buena. Tiene un aroma frutal, como la sidra. Tiene bastante cuerpo y no demasiado gas. Deja un sabor peculiar para una quadrupel.

I hate to go against popular opinion here, but I wasn’t too taken by this beer. Had a gorgeous ruby color. Nice minerally aroma, notes of rum, dark sugars, dried fruits, nutmeg. A bit too strong of alcohol in the nose. Surprisingly light body for the style, but still not a light beer. Very spicy and phenolic, a bit too much for my tastes. Notes of nutmeg, clove, dried fruits, nuts. I have a hard time with 10%+ alcohol beers and this one was just too much. Though, once I pull out some blue cheeses, this made a wonderful accompaniment. Not a bad beer by any means, just not a top-50-ever type beer.

Awesome beers. This is my favourite style by far. The complexity of these belgian quad beers never stops to impress me. The rich taste, incredible aroma and several great features you can explore and rediscover every time you try one, makes this beer always a great experience. Every time you show one of these beers to a cheap lager drinker is a cool experience everybody should try. It is a completely diferent product. Talking about the beer: looks awesome! Nice brown, warm color. Awesome aroma, you can feel caramel, chocolate, toffee, alcohol, molasses, fruits... Just put your nose inside the glass and keep sniffing and you will discover new aspects. It is funny to see people looking uncomfortably at you. The taste is as good as the smell. Rich, creamy, heavy, oily, strong liquor. It is like an espresso doppio. Strongly recommended. What a beer!!

Butelka 0,33l kolor ciemny, piana średnia ale ładnie oblepia szkło. Piwo mocne, aromatyczne owoce i karmel. Smak słodki przechodzący w alkohol, mocne, owoce i karmel. Spodziewałem się więcej.

Flaske. Mørk karamellfarget. Moderat karbonert med stor fyldig skumtopp. Smaker av karamell, kandis og fruktig ettersmak av gjær. Behagelig alkoholstyrke som varmer. Meget bra

Look; fawnish top, brown red clear body, poor lacing. Aroma; apple bush, caramel haze, molasses, sugar notes. Taste; strong caramel malts, juicy grassy hops, yeast, strong malts the fruity way - and a fruity nutty finish. Feels powerful, but natural. Overall nut-malt sipper. [33cl btl 11%abv, BB23.7.18]

from a bottle: this is a fine quadrupel! Fine, well-formed foam, moderate lacing, subtle aroma, faint smoky taste. There may be other Belgian quadrupels that equal it but I haven´t had one that surpasses it. Perfect slow sipping beer, nice feel on the tongue well after each sip. Don´t hesitate to try it if this sounds good to you.

Pours a dark body with a medium head. Aroma of sugars and a subtle hoppy tone. Rich malty taste that is really well balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Got this bottle from @Beergium a few days ago and today it’s #friday so why not open it?

Best before May 2019 so it should be drinkable... ;)

The beer pours hazy, dark brown, nutty colour. Beige, fluffy, creamy, beige head.

Nose: Nuts, toffee, roasted caramel malt, molasses, raisin and candied sugar.
Taste: Oh! This is good! Again candied sugar, molasses, nuts, oak, spices, black pepper, brown sugar, raisin, dried fruit, almond, coffee and honey. The taste gives so much more than the nose! I’m impressed!
Mouthfeel: Creamy, soft, sweet and bitter. A bit alcohol warmth. Medium body. High carbonation.

A bottle of LOVE!

Though not one of the elite Quads, it is certainly a beer to be admired. Pours a dark mahogany color with a thick off-white head. Aromas and flavors of caramel, dark fruit, candied sugar and a tinge of alcohol. The body was pretty thick for a Quad and somewhat chewy. Certainly not a beer that I could drink more than 9 or 10 oz of in one sitting due to its heavy body and sweetness.
