Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Birra scura ed intensa. Aromi con toni fruttati e malto. Al palato evolve ad ogni sorso. Da testare assolutamente negli anni....curioso!

Surprisingly very good quad. I didnt like their tripel that much, but this one is much better. Aroma and taste is a mix of malts, with pleasant sweet undertones, i csn detect nice plums. Appearance is a bold black with a frothy tan head. Highlight by far is the palate, which is heavenly smooth and rich for 11%. Goes down like iced tea, and immediately lets you know this is an accomplished ale. Overall its very good, only lacking boldness to the flavors.

330ml bottle, best before Nov 13. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is raisin, caramel and molasses. Slightly vinous. Taste has caramel and red wine. Lots of dark red fruits. Slightly burnt finish.

Caramel brown. Fat, fizzy white head. Toffee, plums, alcohol. A little unbalanced, like the sharp edges need to be sanded down. Decent, but not awesome.

This beer has aroma close to fresh rust on iron. Even more, the aftertaste is what a would consider the taste of iron, mixed with alcohol. Not a bad beer at all, but a glass is enough.

Bière crémeuse. Le goût de l’alcool est prédominant. L’arrière goût s’estompe assez vite.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Dried fruit, caramel and malts on the nose. Similar taste. Sweet but light body. A bit boozy. The flavours haven’t quite come together. Probably needs some time in the cellar.
