COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Goede fruitig lichtbittere nasmaak. Medium body. Niet te koud drinken. Erg lekker bier.

Pours a slightly hazy copper-brown color, with a small brown head. Aroma of berries and chocolade. Medium bodied, well carbonized. Brown sugar and bready notes, toffee, bitter chocolate and berries on palate. Bitter-sweet and spicy finish. B@H

33cl bottle. Dark brown colour with medium light brown head, excellent appearance. Aroma is like a sweet cake, taste is also sweet (fruity) with roasted malts and finishes with alcohol notes. Palate is pretty intense, one enjoys the flavours and the perfect carbonation. This is definetely one the best Quadruppels I’ve ever had.

caramel, bread, citrus, spruce, earthy, brown, cloudy, white foam, minimal head, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation. Intensely flavoured with nice hoppy aroma. Quite different from other quadrupels, less heavy.

Pours a beautiful black beer with a good white head. Smells like red wine and sweet. Pretty nice. Taste is quite nice. A bit licorice and chocolate. The palate is perfect with this one.

Pours dark brown with large gassy tan head. Aroma of a well liquored fruitcake. Taste is a three way battle between malt, dark fruit and alcohol. What make this beer so interesting is that this battle ends in a three-way tie. Love it!

Pitch black with a greyish head and nice carbonation. Reddish hints when held up to the light. Chocolate citric breadiness with hints of fruits and cardamom. A solid smell. Stout-like bitterness with a nice watery finish, Coffee bitterness. Delicious!

Un très joli sigle de bouteille. Nearly the design of the Moonlight Brewing Company from California. A bucolic corner of the Sonoma Valley for this one, and the historical medieval city of Bruges for the other one... But the most important is what you will find in your glass !!! About the Straffe Hendrik quadruple, we have two things to say first : 1. A member of the Belgian Family Brewers, and an old story beginning in 1856 with the family Maes (not the one of the pils producer !!), and a first mention of brewing in 1546 !!! 2. One of the rare belgian beers with the name of « quadruple », unusual in our vocabulary. I have also seen that beer qualified as a barley wine. Let us see... First of all, a very high level : 11 % abv. A very dark color, very encouraging... Un conseil : try it, and after that you see a moonlight brewing in the sky...
