COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

alteregoo (711) - POLAND - OCT 30, 2015
Po przelaniu do szkła tworzy się obfita choć sycząca piana, opadając lekko zdobi szkło, do końca pozostaje w postaci nieregularnych chmurek. Barwa rubinowo brązowa, klarowna. Aromat zdominowany przez owoce kandyzowane, rodzynki, daktyle, suszone gruszki oraz sherry, porto i kontynentalny chmiel. W smaku półsłodkie, głównie suszone owoce, likier karmelowy, cierpkie jagody, zioła. Goryczka średnia, chmielowo alkoholowo pestkowa. W posmaku wino głogowe, taniny i nutki tytoniowe. Nagazowanie wysokie, musujące na języku, półpełne w odczuciu, alkohol mocno rozgrzewa (choć w przyjemny sposób). Całkiem udany Quadrupel, bardziej wytrawny niż słodki, cierpki, taninowy i dość goryczkowy. Nasuwa się skojarzenie z Quadruplem nowofalowym :)

Marstonlad (698) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 13, 2014
Bottle at Kaisla, Helsinki. Pours dark brown with a little white head. Aroma has ripe, dark fruitiness, raisin, sweet caramel maltiness and, uncharacteristically, also a solid presence of vanilla and oak. Taste is strong, sweet and quite intense. Sweet malty notes, raisin and vanilla carry the taste towards the long, very light bitter finish. Again, the intriguing element of vanilla appears; coupled with sweet, ripe fruitiness the impression is slightly sherryish. The palate is full-bodied and sticky with a fairly soft carbonation. An elegant, varied quad overall.

Pours a clear red-brown with a lively tan head. Smells of cereal, creamy coffee, woody. Taste is malt-heavy, sweet, with a dry woody finish common to abbey ales.
