COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Classic quad profile. Aromas and flavors of dark fruit, prune, caramelized stonefruit, banana, molasses, cola, spices and Belgium yeast. Smooth, medium-medium-plus body, with fine carbonation and a touch of bitterness in the relatively sweet/semi-dry finish.. Alcohol is very well integrated. Well balanced. Elegant, lingering nuances of cola, spice and Belgium yeast. Solid, though not my absolute favorite. Overall, I guess I prefer a little more concentration in my quad. This was elegant throughout, which I'm sure will make many people happy. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Caramello, malto, ancora frutta secca e dark fruits, liquirizia. Carbonazione medio bassa. Molto buona.

Bottle 330ml. Served at room temperature. Pours a murky, dark brown with a red tint. Head is large, beige, and is mostly lasting. Aroma is of herbaceous/earthy hops with lightly toasted brown rolls, ruby port, dark plums (strong), dark cherries (strong), dark raisin chocolate, cooked brown sugar, cinnamon and coriander (light). Flavour is a light to medium spicy/herb hop bitterness with lightly toasted wholegrain bread, dried currants, blackberries, blueberries, Belgian candy sugar, cinnamon, pepper, dark aniseed chocolate rings and notes of green leaves in the finish. Full boded with light carbonation, an oily texture and a good length, warming finish.
