3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750->Trappist: Pours a medium, rapidly diminishing, frothy-to-rocky head atop a hazy, heavy particulate, carbonated, amber body. Aroma of citrus and to a much lesser extent, floral hops, ending with just a hint of sweetness along the lines of caramel. The body is medium, starting out sweet, going bitter, and finishing somewhat astringently with the latent astringency and bitterness on the palate. I really dig the lighter body and mouthfeel of this beer, but that is the same thing that could get one in trouble, especially with this beer being 9%. Overall, I liked this better than the aggregate ratings at the time I rated this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark yellow colored with cloudy appearance, little yellow head. Strongly lemony aroma with other peachy fruitiness, yeast also here. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Flavor is also lemony with some nice spiciness, warming alcohol lasts in aftertaste. Decent and straightforward triple.

Bottle 33 cl from Le Grain d’Orge in Neuchâtel (CH). Golden with nice white foam, many floats. Fruity nose, toffy and yeast. The taste is similar, bittersweet, fruity with candi and bread, hints of acidity, a little peppery. Sweetened final with notes of bitter-citrus and points of acidity. Warmth of alcohol

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle on supersale at Whole Foods. Pours dark golden, clear without much head. A little hazy near the bottom of the bottle. Nose and taste a bit harsh and alky at first. Floral notes. Dried orange and lemon zest. Bread. Bananas and mild clove. Much better as it warms. Thin palate. Good for the sale price, for sure.

Pours a rich golden color with a nice white head. Aroma starts with alcohol, wildflower honey, golden raisins and a sweet spicy note. Flavor is very sweet up front followed by a very light bitter note. Some yeasty esters make their way into the flavor. Not bad.

Bruges Straffe Hendrik
Pours golden orange with a medium white head and good retention. Floaties from the cold. Aroma of cloves, apples, white wine grapes, and yeast. Flavor is crisp and bubbly with candy sugar, alcohol and white wine w/o the tartness. Missing something and unbalanced, but couldn’t put my finger on it.
