Bottle at Hupple, Den Haag. Pours hazy golden, massive white guess with medium retention. Aroma is fruit, malt, hops and slightly floral. Flavour is sweet with yeast, hops, bread and some fruit. Alcohol in the finish and an imbalance in flavour stops it from being as good as it could be.

Tap at Paradiso Dupont. Pours a pretty deep gold to near amber with a thinner, white head. Nose is strange: apple skins, mild plastic phenols, cinnamon and pear esters, sweet peach and vanilla. Taste is sharp and alcohol forward with mild calvados/apple brandy. Moves to spicy cinnamon apple, sugary peach ice cream, vanilla extract, spicy apple cider. Pretty delicious.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop notes of grain and perfume, light dough for the yeast, with hints of grape, wood, honey, alcohol and corn. Head is huge, frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is dark hazy amber, with lots of large ugly looking particles that make this look like egg drop soup. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily and a bit gooey, with a carbonation between lively and fizzy, and has a moderately alcoholic finish. The body is not pretty to look at, but the flavor and aroma is fairly effective in this Abbey Tripel.
