This beer starts with a nice aroma of banana, peach, and clove. It pours a clear amber, with visible carbonation, and a full white head that leaves good sticky lacing on the glass. There’s quite a bit of sugar in this beer, as it has a light sweet flavor, with the alcohol amazingly hidden. The palate has a bit of slickness to it, with a clean finish. This is an amazingly drinkable tripel, and I’ll be picking up more of this.

Bottled from Gaal&Gaal, Amsterdam Hazy golden with a large, white head. Spicy, slightly yeasty aroma with metallic notes. Spicy and vinous flavour with notes of marcipan.

Smells great. Orange peel amd banana yeast with and herbal aroma. Luscious cloudy gold color. Thick body with complex yeast tastes that end in a gritty peppery bitter. Nice tripel.

Bottle @ the Appellation Comely Bank tasting. This one from the Bottle Bank. Appearance - golden and oily with a slight haze and a decent head. Nose - lemon to orange and maybe some green herbs in there. Boozy back note. Taste - more citrus, booze and herbs. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a dry finish. Overall - in most other categories this would be a great beer, but in Belgian Tripel, it’s an also ran, for me.

Pours a hazy gold with a patchy off white head. The nose has definite spices of coriander and clove as well as an overall floral and estery aroma. Light floral yeast notes with a bit of citrus zest. Light caramel and toasty wheat malts. A bit of a boring tripel in my opinion but good none the less.

100th beer review of the year. 330ml bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip. A: Golden, slightly hazy with a few floaters, initial two finger head, decent retention, lots of lacing clung to the side of the glass. S: To start with it wasn’t overly fragrant, picked up some fruity esters towards the end, slightly more hops than is the norm for lots of Belgian beers. T: Lots of esters and yeast, some fruits. Had a real sharpness to it. Finished up with a hit of bitterness. M: Not overly carbonated, slightly thick texture and heavy body. O: It reminded me of certain beers from the Van Steenbergen brewery. I can’t find fault, but it didn’t do anything to distance itself from the herd.
