This is the regular Straffe Hendrik Tripel, but this time fermented with wild Brettanomyces yeast strains.

Oranjegoud, behoorlijk helder bier. Ruikt fruitig en naar gist. Smaakt medium zoet, licht bitter. medium co2, volle body. Lekker.

33cl bottle from utobeer, london. Pours a lovely toffee coloured beer, nice beige head that lasts. You can really smell the wild yeast. Taste is unique, one on its own. Incredibly complex combination of sweet malty triple and sour lambic. Really really good brew

Une bonne triple, et très intéressante avec le brettanomyces. L’arôme est aigre avec un peu de levure belge fruité. Le goût est aussi aigre, avec un peu de fruits fraîches. Très bonne, est très unique pour le style.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin and Fin. Hazy gold beer, mahooosive pale cream colour head. Airy semi dry palate. decent fine carbonation. Mildly savoury brett. Mellow floral accentuated citrus, lemon identifiable. Light semi dry finish. All right.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Fin for gifting me this number, 04/11/14. Hazed orange amber with a decent off white covering. Nose carries brett pangs, tangy citric, peach, mandarin, straw, yeast esters. Taste comprises dried apricot, sublte brett, peach, light spice, yeast esters. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation - a little overcooked for my liking, semi drying close with a brett tickle. Decent bretty version of a style I often find to sweet, not this number though - good balance.

Thanks Eugene. This bottle did gush everywhere. I lost 80% of it. big pillow like white head, orange in color. Very yeast forward, a lot of bread dough and spice...sweet orange peel. more bread and pepper. Taste is nice. it’s on RB as a triple but it has some wild yeast, mostly brett peppery I’ve had this before supposedly but never rated it. not a terrible beer. would have liked more of it.

Bottle @ Home. Slight gusher that pours hazy golden orange with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, candy sugar, yeast, light brett, sweet fruity, peach, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, malty, bretty, candy, sweets, fruity, some alcohol. Medium body, rather overcarbonated, light warming alcohol. 161114

Here, we something quite unique - you could say a beer style on it’s own. This beer is a Tripel, that’s right, but its fermented spontaniously with Bretonnomyces yeast. Or to be more simple, with "wild" yeast that’s everywhere in the air. Now you also know where the name of the beer comes from, and where it’s sourish taste comes from. Just like a Lambic or Gueuze. And you need to get used to the sour taste of this Tripel. I am no fan of sour beers, but this one is even for me very drinkable and all favour notes build a well composed ensemble. Even if the body is medium, it doesn’t hide it’s strenght. A good beer - and the second one is even better!

Pours a slightly hazy orange-yellow color, with a huge, spongy head. Has a spicy, coriander, ginger and clove foundation, accompanied by tropical fruits and ripe pear with banana. On top of that sits a funky sourness, turning the smell of the brew in a fruit based direction, confining the typical Tripel sweeteness. Extremely smooth drinking beer, with warming spices up-front, followed by fruits, with orange being the most surprising one to me. Spices throughout, clove and cinnamon foremost, finding an antagonist in tart, slightly acidic bretts. This funkiness does by no means hold up to the yeast driven load of spices, but adds a new, citraic, flavor direction, while this is still nothing but a Triple. Interacts very well with a juicy, fruity hop bitterness in the finish, washing over a toffee maltiness, while spices turn into a stingy peppery direction, adding a gentle bite to the brew.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Colin. Pours unclear gold with a creamy white head. Nice aroma, lots of ripe and sweet melon, tangerine, slight brett. Medium sweet flavor with ripe, sugary melon, some peach, lemon, tangerine, faint rindy bitterness. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with pale bread, more melon and tangerine, wheat, very slight funk. Pretty tasty overall.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours hazy golden with a massive white head, the nose is sweet, tangerine, tangy, apricot, five alive, mango and tang. The taste is juicy, sweet, candy, sherbet, candy, bretty, earth, orange rind, mango, grapefruit with a dry, somewhat spicy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Works pretty well for me.
