Albert. Able. Gordo. Miss Baker. Bonny. Goliath. Between 1948 and 1961 these primate pioneers and others bravely went where no man had ever gone before, paving the way for manned U.S. spaceflight. This hoppy little monkey of a beer is a tribute to those Simian heroes of yesteryear. It has a citrusy, floral hop aroma, a strong malt body and a crisp finish.

Appearance: pours with a very large beige head, the beer is a very clear golden color with a strong hue of amber, very nice head retention Aroma: strong grain, smells like I’m mashing in, caramel, Taste: hints of grain at first then an assertive bitterness backed by a strong caramel malty backbone, has some warmth with it from the alcohol, Palate: heavy mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste, lively carbonation Overall: this beer smells amazing, the taste is great too, strong malts to overpower the bitterness, I like it

Pours a golden color. Resin hops, toasted malt, medium to full bitterness. Medium/full bodied with medium bitter finish. This is solid.

Can. Orange juice, malt , and orange peel/pine aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with nice off-white head. Sweet candied sugar/orange toffee malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel/quinine flavor. Good body. A bit rough. Here’s to Sam and Ham plus Albert II - the first primate in space.

Another BIF project from Straight to Ale. Not sure how this is considered an IPA. This is a over malted amber, and if classified that way would get much higher scores. Great beer, just not a very good IPA.

Can: Clear amber with a thick beige head. Woody caramel, orange and pine aroma. Taste is earthy....caramel malt, breadheel, fruit, a little peppery. Tasty, though not very hoppy.

NIce fruity aroma mingled with fresh hops. Deep golden to orange color, with a thick tanish white head. Sweet malt up front. Ultra citrus and fruit tone in the malt/hops up front. Bitterness faintly steps in on the finish and intensifies towards the end. Slightly slick mouth feel. A little boozy on the finish also.

Amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly piney with a hint of fruit. Flavor is light tropical fruit with a touch of pine in the finish. Not very sticky or resinous finishes dry and bitter. Wife: 3.8

Sampled at ESBLS. A complex beer, if not a great one. Very fruity with alcohol evident. Rich malts. Not a favorite.

Not exactly my style of brew when searching out an ipa but still good. Good balanced taste. Great looking and good tasting.

Aroma - surprised by the lack of hop aroma. Definitely a piney around there, but I get more malty, bread/toast/caramel aromas Appearance - nice pale copper with a thick white head Taste - initial light bitterness ; finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter Mouthfeel - very light bodied, slightly sticky Overall: really surprised by the lack of hip presence in this beer
