Albert. Able. Gordo. Miss Baker. Bonny. Goliath. Between 1948 and 1961 these primate pioneers and others bravely went where no man had ever gone before, paving the way for manned U.S. spaceflight. This hoppy little monkey of a beer is a tribute to those Simian heroes of yesteryear. It has a citrusy, floral hop aroma, a strong malt body and a crisp finish.

12 oz can courtesy of Monte. Thanks. Pours a hazy copper color with a small white head that recedes to a fine film. The aroma features pine, soap and some citrus. The taste is bitter hops forward with resinous hops and a bit of grapefruit set in a biscuit malt base. The palate was light and the carbonation was lively. Finished medium in duration with lingering bitter resins. Overall: Nice little IPA, but the bitterness came across as a tad harsh at times.

On tap at Flying Saucer Nashville. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet tropical fruits, sweet citrus candy, grassy hops. Flavor of sweet fruits up front with bitter, grassy hops in the finish. Some astringency, but it’s a decent IPA, just a touch sweet too. 7/4/7/3/14 (3.5/5)

Draft. Mild head and decent lace. Very pretty gold pour. Aroma of hops, earthy tones, yeast. Flavor of heavy citrus..lime and orange...come through with bitter hops on the palate. First beer I’ve had from Straight to Ale. Not bad at all.

Can. Pours clear amber with a medium white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, spruce, floral. Flavor is medium sweet, almost candylike; perhaps cotton candy? Definitely floral notes as well, with medium bitterness. Very odd, but not necessarily bad. Medium body.

On tap sample at Flying Saucer. Not much on the nose, but good taste of grapefruit. Very herbal and somewhat bitter. Somewhat thick on the palate. Decent IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear orange, spongy white head. And a bonus appearance point for the awesome label, of course. Rather malt forward aroma, with caramel and brown sugar. Plenty of hops, too - mostly grapefruity, citrusy ones. Taste is Sweet up front, with the expected caramel and brown sugar, then assertive hoppy finish. Sweet-ish but still very hoppy.

Pint on tap. Clear copper with a film of lasting bubbles. Pleasant but slightly subdued nose of orange toffee, grapefruit and resin. Taste has grapefruit, earthy orange, toasted grain and nut, toffee and a nice drying finish of resin. Light-medium body finishes well to the dry side, has medium carbonation and is one of the few well-balanced American IPAs.

6 pack of cans from Downtown wine and Spirits. I couldn’t turn down a canned beer with such an awesome label. Turns out to be a tasty IPA. Pours hazy bold orange with a tall white head. The aroma is a little soapy with sharp, grassy and floral hops. Flavor is very floral, like hibiscus and has just a bit of citrus going on too. Palate is not as big as I’d think for the abv. I generally prefer more straight up citrus or pine in my IPA’s, but this is a cool departure from the norm and pulls it off well. Clean drinking brew.

I love IPA’s in cans it just locks in all the hop aroma adding greatly to your drinking pleasure. This one had a huge resin hop note to it. A good hop forward American IPA
