Albert. Able. Gordo. Miss Baker. Bonny. Goliath. Between 1948 and 1961 these primate pioneers and others bravely went where no man had ever gone before, paving the way for manned U.S. spaceflight. This hoppy little monkey of a beer is a tribute to those Simian heroes of yesteryear. It has a citrusy, floral hop aroma, a strong malt body and a crisp finish.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2012 Update: March 2012 Some from a fresh Keg... incredible head... not to much, but keeps giving. Sweet bitterness... goes deep into throat, enjoyable. Bitter right on though. Happy this is made in town, Iíve found a beer of choice for local. Rating increase .4 points more aroma and hops. Original: Sept 2011: I really like this. And its from huntsville! And applies to the space program. Citrus floral smell very strong... nice just to sniff. Not bitter just hoppy. Wonderful! Nice job guys... after huntsville beer week, this one is on top for me. Slight watery flavor builds over time. Still a nice beer. June 2012. After trying many IPAs the aroma is really perfect. Overall this is moving up to an 18. Its one of the best IPAís out there as I like a citrus IPA. Taste is up to a 9. Yes its that good guys. PLEASE PLEASE PLEase Donít start to cut corners for profit. This is what you need to sell right now! Donít change

This is a phenomenal beer or maybe just right in my wheelhouse. The hops are huge, packing a tremendous amount of flavor. The malt is tuned to provide maximum depth, reigning in bitterness slightly without competing with hop flavor. Gravity is also tuned to facilitate the most lush expression. There is a lot going on in the finish as well. This is where sappy evergreen goodness says hello while malt sweetness surfaces. This beer is in 4D.

We got this both at the brewery and in 12oz can from Liquor Express. Greta IPA aroma with about a 1 inch head. Looks beautiful and has that classic IPS bitter taste.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2014 I prefer my IPA with a malt backbone and this one delivers. Takes some getting used to at first. Heavy on the malt, almost ESB like in the biscuity, bready side. Very well done. A unique IPA and one which I can’t quite come close to a flavor comparison. Very well done!

Draft at J Clyde, Birmingham AL: Whole orange and cranberry nose. Copper, thin head. Drinks like it smells with a stupid amount of orange peel. Soft, cask-like carbonation, but a little hot. fruity and different. I couldnít believe this is an IPA. Unique.

My first 'Bama beer; there is hope for GOP country. Nice -- very nice -- malt-forward IPA, as I am partial to. The malt base is sweet, also as I like. Hops come into play flavor-wise, with grapefruit being the most prominent note. Some pine, but it's a minor player. Love the taste overall; love the tag line ("straight to ale"); this is a good one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2013 A beautiful, deep bronze/copper color that is crystal clear, with a medium head and full lacing from start to finish. It has a pronounced citrus and pine aroma, and a full flavor with a finish that has medium bitterness.

One of my favorite IPAs brewed in Alabama. By far my favorite from Straight to Ale. The beer is exquisite, but the can is what, frankly, caught my attention. Present, yet not overpowering, citrus flavor with a rather clean finish. Great for people that like lighter ales, but not the punchy fruit flavor that usually comes with them.
