3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 nearbeer (3048) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 28, 2013Pint on tap. Clear copper with a film of lasting bubbles. Pleasant but slightly subdued nose of orange toffee, grapefruit and resin. Taste has grapefruit, earthy orange, toasted grain and nut, toffee and a nice drying finish of resin. Light-medium body finishes well to the dry side, has medium carbonation and is one of the few well-balanced American IPAs.

Can. Pours amber with medium white head. Aroma of floral and resinous hops. Medium body with some malt sweetness upfront and a nice bitter hop finish.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2013 12 ounce can courtesy of Suttree. Canned on 02/07/2013. The pour is a hazed orange copper with an inch and a half light tan head. The aroma is orange citrus hops, a bit of floral and a nice toasty malt. The taste is the orange resin hop along with the toasted malt, nice balance between the two flavors, though the taste was not quite as bright as the aroma. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a dry resin finish. Would love to try this fresh on draft - the hops were great in the nose, though lacked some pop in the flavor.

My first 'Bama beer; there is hope for GOP country. Nice -- very nice -- malt-forward IPA, as I am partial to. The malt base is sweet, also as I like. Hops come into play flavor-wise, with grapefruit being the most prominent note. Some pine, but it's a minor player. Love the taste overall; love the tag line ("straight to ale"); this is a good one.

Outta can. Malty and fruity nose. Dark copper; solid lace tracks; grapefruit like presence in mouth. Great aftertaste. I didn't think anyone could touch Good People's brews out of Alabama but this is an above average IPA and worth seeking out!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 1stRndDraught (10) - Birmingham, USA - APR 30, 2013
One of my favorite IPAs brewed in Alabama. By far my favorite from Straight to Ale. The beer is exquisite, but the can is what, frankly, caught my attention. Present, yet not overpowering, citrus flavor with a rather clean finish. Great for people that like lighter ales, but not the punchy fruit flavor that usually comes with them.

12oz can, with a cool label. Looks amber. Aroma strong of citrusy and floral hops with a decent amount of pale/caramel malts. Flavor the same, with a big hoppiness that is nicely balanced. Average texture. A good IPA.

Had this on tap at the East Nashville Beer Festival. Nice citrus hop aroma. Solid malt backbone and dry finish. A well done IPA and I love the can.

Can. Pours a clear copper with a slight but bubbly head. Earthy aroma, with the hops taking a back seat to the malt in the aroma. Surprisingly bitter up front, with a lot of malt backbone cookie like, with an orange hop note. Finishes fruity and astringent.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 StefanSD (1795) - Lakeside, California, USA - MAR 17, 2013
12 oz can courtesy of Monte. Thanks. Pours a hazy copper color with a small white head that recedes to a fine film. The aroma features pine, soap and some citrus. The taste is bitter hops forward with resinous hops and a bit of grapefruit set in a biscuit malt base. The palate was light and the carbonation was lively. Finished medium in duration with lingering bitter resins. Overall: Nice little IPA, but the bitterness came across as a tad harsh at times.
