Albert. Able. Gordo. Miss Baker. Bonny. Goliath. Between 1948 and 1961 these primate pioneers and others bravely went where no man had ever gone before, paving the way for manned U.S. spaceflight. This hoppy little monkey of a beer is a tribute to those Simian heroes of yesteryear. It has a citrusy, floral hop aroma, a strong malt body and a crisp finish.

Pint on tap. Clear copper with a film of lasting bubbles. Pleasant but slightly subdued nose of orange toffee, grapefruit and resin. Taste has grapefruit, earthy orange, toasted grain and nut, toffee and a nice drying finish of resin. Light-medium body finishes well to the dry side, has medium carbonation and is one of the few well-balanced American IPAs.

Interesting. Keep reading about all these new breweries popping up in Alabama and I live 30 miles from the border in west georgia and have to vacation in the Florida panhandle to try their product. This is not your typical IPA at all, frankly it's unlike any I have had before. I prefer my IPA with a little malt backbone and "balance" to it but thus one is at first a little too malty, kinda on the ESB side. Takes some getting used to and than it's got ya hooked and you crack open another. Very addictive. Not even close to being a "go to" IPA, but if it was readily available in my area I could see myself choosing it anyway. Kinda weird but I likes it a lot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Cloudy amber body. Fizzy white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of toasted grain, pine, resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Big caramel malts in the taste. Thicker body than usual for an ipa.

Hoppy with a sticky mouthfeel. A nice balance of malt and hops. A little to rich to drink too many, but a nice IPA.

Happy to find this at the Publix grocery store in Tuscaloosa...big, oily, creamy, and with a monster head this slid down my throat with ease. Freaky monkey!

Dark golden in the glass. Fresh and very floral in the nose. The beer starts smooth, very floral and slightly sweet. The aftertaste is smooth, nicely floral hopped and not too sweet. Nicely bitter. A great IPA! --> 13/12/12/12

Draft - Luminous orange with decent head of yellowish foam. Palate is good but doesnít have the strong backbone, but I think this is crafted well for Southern weather.

12oz bottle, thanks to Mike L. for bringing me this 2 days ago. Canned on date is 06/27/13........ Poured into my DFH IPA glass. Sheeeeeit. Can foams over once itís opened. Pouring into a glass yields a huge 3 inch head, that continues to slowly produce more head as it sits. Starts to worm up over the top of the glass after sitting for a minute. Mostly hazy amber orange color. Caramel malty, citrusy, lightly spicy aroma. Some metallic. Bigger sweet taste, kind of cloying, something musty and awful about the taste, a pretty medicinal bitterness. Gets not as bad as I go, though. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Aroma and texture are not completely awful. Not as super malty and sweet as Iíd expect a 9 month old IPA to be, but pretty malty still, and something else weird going on the taste. A pretty astringent bitterness.

12oz can into a pint glass. Iíve been looking forward to trying something from this brewery! Pours a hazy brownish orange with a one finger white head. Nice fluffy head has good staying power and some pretty nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma has a very orange/tangerine quality mixed with an almost Belgiany yeasty spicyness. It is definitely unique but works quite well. Some bready malt comes through in the background. The flavor continues the tangeriane and orange character almost approaching a dreamsicle-like flavor. Maybe touches of cream and vanilla in there. I love the hops in this one. Some light bready malt is present to lend some balance to the hops. High bitterness that finishes with a light sticky sweetness. Overall, a very nice IPA that stands out from so many others being made by small breweries. An enjoyable beer and one to pick up should you come across it.

Fort Walton Beach can with a creepy cosmonaut monkey on it. Nice piney bitterness in the aroma. Flavor has nice bittereness but its missing some depth or complimenting flavors. Nice overall. Sweet, another Alabama tick.

Can-purchased at a liquor store in Mobile, AL jan 2014. Pours clear dark orange hue with a very fluffy eggshell head and good lacing! nose is resin, pine, metallic, lite sugar candies, Flavors are very resinous, pine, with a good sticky sweet malt base. The can i have is a few months old, however it held up fairly well. Some slight metallic and cheese notes long into the finish with lingering resin. body is fluffy with moderate carbonation. Not a bad IPA and im sure its great when fresh. Solid IPA!
