A German kolsch-style ale formerly known as Stop Work 689, Sand Island Light House was renamed to commemorate our finally covering the entirety of our home state in 2013. Sand Island Light House is the southernmost point in Alabama. Crisp, clean and refreshing, Sand Island is available year round in cans and draft formats. Mildly sweet with a touch of Tettnanger hop bitterness in the finish, it is the perfect brew for warmer weather or anytime of year.

Can. Poured straw colored slightly hazy with white frothy head. Malty and somewhat butter popcorn nose. Medium body slightly sweet with a bit of earthyness. A little on the flat side. not my favorite from this brewery.

On tap at Chattahoochee Brewing. Pours a clear golden color, with decent amount of white head. Aroma is grain, apple cider, light sweetness. Taste is bland, grainy, and underwhelming. Palate is thin body, low carbonation. Not good.

Tasted on 3/27/13 from a 12oz can purchased at Craft Brewed. Pours cloudy golden/orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is very crisp and almost lager clean with some light malt and a touch of lemon citrus hops. The flavor is the same, very crisp and clean with light malt and decently bitter spicy and citrus hops. The body is light with lively, almost fizzy carbonation and a medium spicy hops finish.

Clear golden color. Small white head. Not much lacing. Yeasty aroma with a nice crisp hop note. Taste is the same with notes of lemon and a bit catty. One of the better Kölsch style beers I have had.

Destin can. Pours a clear, bubbly, gold color with a white head of big bubbles. Lots of carbonation. Light aroma of lemony citrus and sweet corn. Really nice, refreshing flavor that starts slightly sweet and then finishes with a decent noble hop bitterness. Sweet, another Alabama tick.

Light, crisp, with some light citrus and bready notes. A great beer that tastes like beer and would be great on hot days or a substitute for cheap yellow fizz. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Lightly hazy golden with a lasting creamy film. Nose is caramel and dry grass. Taste is buttery toffee with dry grass and a touch of lemon. Medium body is balanced, smoothly carbonated and lightly tingly, Not much of a kolsch per traditional style, but it tastes and drinks OK.

Can. Yellow color, medium head, a little lace. Rather bad beer. Does not taste like a "German Ale". Taste is way too bitter. Aroma is straw and hay.

Can. No nose. Taste is malty sweet with a touch of sulfur. Doesn't dry out. A touch if bitterness. Meh. ---Rated via intercellular device

Can from epic tasting in late August. This came after a long day of big impy stouts and was somewhat of a palate cleanser and worked pretty well at that. Chewy toasty grain flavors. Aroma and finish is slight lemon citrus. Nice summery brew.
