Bottle from Piggly Wiggly Homewood. Pours brown with very little head and not much carbonation. Slight maltiness on the nose. It does hide its alcohol well. Pretty malty on the tongue. Doesn’t have a ton of complexity.

Not exactly my favorite style, but enjoyed this nonetheless. Slightly sweer, but not overdone. Slightly boozy, but well balanced. Overall, nice brew.

Decent beer that starts out ok, gets really good and just crashes on the finish. Initial taste is alright but it firms up well on the mid palate. The finish is just off though. Tasted earthy and weird with alcohol at the end. Could see myself liking this, but was a miss as a group last night. Did not go over very well at all.

Bottle. Vinous malt, earthy herbal, and alcohol aroma. Viscous hazy amber with a minimal ivory head. Sticky sweet caramel malt, earthy, fruity, sweet orange hops, and big boozy flavor. Full sticky body. The whole thing is just a little too cloyingly sweet for my taste.

Bomber from Earth Fare Huntsville. Nice carmel nutty aroma. Sweetness. Appearance is thick as it boors. Light head ring around the pour... Taste is alchol with a bit of nuttiness. Very easy on the palate. Not as spicey as many wheat wines. But still somewhat spicey. Worth trying again. A very nice beer.

22oz bomber poured into a tulip glass. Pours amber with a 1" white head. White lacing all around the glass. Nose is great! Big malty scents, orange liquor, citrus, lemon grass, soapy. This taste is great, very familiar barley wine flavor. Very impressed with the first bottle offering from Straight To Ale.

I really really like this one from STA. Bought as a 750ml to celebrate my fair state’s emergence from the dark ages of the "12oz is enough" mentality with respect to beer. The reason I find it so tasty is that while sweet, there’s enough nuttiness to it to avoid that cloying sugary thing that many other barleywines have. The alcohol is present but does not taste like 11%. It poured a dark clear amber and had little to no head in the glass. I’d call the overall taste toffee-like and it has a stickiness to it that makes it linger. There’s some alcohol on the nose as well. Oddly enough, this passed the wife test and she found it to be terrific as well when chilled quite a bit (40 degrees F or so)...not bad for someone who usually prefers a wine cooler.
